The Democratic primary elections are coming up in my city, and it's a given that whoever wins the Democratic nomination will become mayor. Our current mayor has to run a write-in campaign because he turned in fraudulent petition signatures, and his biggest challenge seems to be another write-in, Willie Wilson. He's a Baptist preacher who has talked about cutting off people's heads. (Maybe I'm the only one who sees a problem with this.) Then there's another candidate whose name will actually be on the ballot that is also a preacher. He has no idea what he is doing or talking about. There's also a former stripper old enough to be my grandmother who goes by the name "Faith" and is trying to turn DC into a state.
I don't like the current mayor, Anthony Williams, because he keeps helping out the rich neighborhoods and continually fucks over the poor. But it looks like he's the lesser of all evils. Where's Marion Barry when you need him?
