This weeks Big Issue has some really interesting articles.

this particular one is about this guy who went to Palestine to find out what was going on for himself.

"The israeli tanks rolled in two hours before the curfew started announcing on loud speakers that the curfew will start. Two hours later they were back, children were in the streets singing, chanting and throwing stones. within moments of arriving the soldiers had emerged from their vehicles and opened fire in the direction of the children, first with rubber bullets and then with live ammunition"

"In the west we rarely see the truth. the conflict is presented as a game of two halves with both sides playing an equal role in the violence. However, since the outbreak of the intifada in September 2000 there have been a total of 1897 Palestinian fatalities, 156 of whom were children, compared to 527 israelis, 22 of whom were children"

"400,000 Jewish setlers have built their homes in Pelestinian territory in contravention of international law taking up huge swathes of the best agricultural land"

This is the story of just one person, How many other stories are there?

Both sides are just as violent but only one side was the initial aggressor...

How are they just as violent? The Israelis have murder four times as many people as the Palestinians have!

Are you another fucking idiot? Both sides have to kill the same number of children to be "equally violent"? This is why the human race is doomed -- there are many others like you.

Both sides are violent, true.....

But violently throwing stones, and violently taunting soldiers is no comparison to violently opening fire on children.

In many occupied areas, such as Hebron, the Palestinians are under near-24 hour curfew. They risk being shot if they cross their doors. Children are shot at as they leave school by IDF fascists just for fun.

No, but how can you accuse them of being equally violent when the Israelis have Cobra and Apache helicopters, tanks, missiles and other state of the art weaponry whereas the Palestinians have little more than sticks, stones, and somke homemade explosive?

What's that supposed to mean?

CairanB, this is my point and i think the whole point of the article. So much is happening that we dont know or being kept from knowing by those people who do not want us to know that there are 'Evil' muslims being persecuted.

This reporter had to go and find out for himself if it wasnt for him and others sharing first hand information we would not know the truth.

How can shooting people be a justified act of retaliation to a group of children throwing stones.

the unnecessary use of extreme power the israelis employ against the palestinian population is appalying. innocent men, women and children are dying from the israeli bullets.

ciaranb, it is not true that the palestinians have nothing but sticks and stones. they have hundreds of assault rifles which the terrorist organizations will not hesitate to use against israeli civilians, like they have done numerous times in the past.

True, but even these assault rifles can compare in no way to the arsenal the Israelis have at their disposal - thanks to the US.
