After being an active poster for only a few weeks, I have to stop being a part of this forum.

I cannot participate in anything or with anyone that defends and even glorifies Joseph Stalin. While I am open to new ideas and theories,I will never be open to endorsments of a tyrannical dictator that killed millions. He was the antithesis of a communist, but still some in this forum (it seems like alot ) have defended the man and his actions. The defense of Stalin is no better than a defense of Hitler or Pol Pot, Richard Nixon, or the Rawandan Hutu Government in 1994.

The Revolutionary Left Forum has dissapointed, instead of it being a place for socialist/communist/anarchist to congreagte and disscuss, it seems to me it is also a bastion for young extremists to spread thier own idealogy ofanti-human ideals (like those of Stalin).

While some postings and disscussions have been educating and enjoyable, most degenerate into petty arguments about semantics of minute details.

This forum has, like so many other expirences, once again has left me dillusioned with the "leftist" movements of this world. While I reamind dedciated to the principles and ideals of Socialism, I must seperate myself from such poisonus people liek those who glorify and defend Stalin.

To all the other anti-Stalinists out there. I enjoyed "talking" with you, and mean no disrespect.

Sincerely,
MKS

Dude, calm down. There are threads about Stalin quite frequently and I think that most people don't bother watching them anymore or responding. Although Stalinists often take the effort to defend their glorious master.

Anyway, this is a discussion board. "The board" doesn't glorify Stalin, some individuals on this board do. Just as they might be utterly disgusted by certain opinions of you. We need to have different opinions, otherwise the debates would become utterly dull.

I agree.

(that was supposed to be funny in some subtly ironic way)

Actually I think it is one. I have only met one stalinist on here. There are a couple Maoists but only one stalinist as far as I can see. There is no reason to leave for that.

Just for the record, revolutionary left didn't find you too impressive either.

you specifically helped turn the "Where Are the Stalinists" thread into a petty argument about Stalin. I believe you were just as guilty of aiding the degeneration of arguments and discussions into "petty arguments about semantics and of minute details."

Good riddance MKS, see you later.

Well, Im back. I ve decided not to run from challenges, it is cowardly and weak. Sometimes I tend to sepreate from difficult situations and tune people out I disagree with. (Im young and sometimes make mistakes. Dont we all?)

Now let me address some points brought up in the responses to my original thread.

Just for the record, revolutionary left didn't find you too impressive either NovelGentry

That was a cheap shot, and frankly uncalled for. I never meant to offend RL, and if I did I apologize. Im sorry you didnt find me impressive, Ill try harder to meet your expectations. The forementioned quote also shows to me what is an elitist attitude, that implies, if you're not always right, then your opionons and, views and questions arent valued. Thats how I took at the comment I could be wrong, I might have taken it the wrong way.

As for my view on Stalin let me explain my reaction:
Through my short life (22 years) I have been to University, traveled to many nations and I consider myself a student of history and life. Through this "education" I developed a strict personal moral conviction, a strong commitment to the abolition and prevention of genocide. Genocide, whether committed by the U.$, Germany, and Stalinist Soviets, is morally wrong and is one of the greatest failings of humanity. When I read the defense of Stalin in the threads I became very outraged at the defense of such inhumanity. Frankly it is frightening to think that there are still people who think in such ways.

My Socialist ideals were founded in the belief in the good of man, and the principal that through Socialism and ultimatley communism will creat true equality, and the abolition of genocide.

Good riddance, reactionary!NoXion quote

I am not a reactionary, far from it.

I hope you will allow me to continue to participate in this forum. Even if I am not impressive, maybe I could work towards acceptable.

Once again I apologize for my knee-jerk reaction and any disrespect that may have presented itself.

You're so pathetic. Why do you care what others on a forum think about you anyways? Second of all, now that you're back it seems like this is just a cheap way of getting attention (now you've got people talking directly to you!). I figured you'd be back anyways, nobody announces they are leaving in a post without the intention of coming back to check it anyways...you were looking for people to respond to you and you got it. well done.

NO, that wasnt my original intention. There is probably nothing I could say to prove that to you. But most people do change thier minds and realize that they mistakes, like I did.

I care about what people think of me, and people in the forum, because I respect and value thier opinion. Even yours, though it may not seem like it.

My announcement of my leaving was meant as an exit opinion, or survey of the forum, not as a ploy for attention.
