I actually thought it was quite a weak mobilisation by most organisations in comparison to others but that was probably exaggerated by the low turnout, though it was bigger than the first anti-war demos I went to. The lack of media attention does play a part but also that people have become somewhat de-sensitised towards the war. Not to underestimate what's going on in Iraq but there has been no real significant events for a period which has pushed the war out of many peoples' consciousness. While there are still huge numbers of casualties and bombings, they've become such every day news that a lot of people have come largely accustomed to it. I am quite skeptical about this Peace Festival fiasco in Shannon though.
Demos always provide me with plenty of reading material which is always good. Gives me new positions to attack the SWP from. Didn't get an oppurtunity to discuss with the Sparts though.

We only had about 40 placards, half of which members were holding. Every demo is like that anyway, you can pick up anyone's placards.
I can't remember the date.

I wasn't taking it as one. :P They're a nuisance after a while in all honesty. We had these flags sometime last year which were handy because they had bamboo canes which were much lighter and if you were wearing a bag, you could slide it between your back and bag comfortably. Everyone stole them on us. We have one left of about 100.

When they got them flags, they were in a financial crisis :D
The Sparts have the best placards though.

The Sparts didn't have posters this time.... and when they do, they're handmade. They have some sort of position against printed posters.

No, the Spart's banners are text-only. It gives half their programme on the things.

Typical Spart placard (http://www.spartacus.ws/Spartacist%20league.jpg)
And that doesn't have the usual amount of text.

I just find their placards funny. They have entire revolutionary programmes on them at times. You'd think it was out of financial necessity that someone would make such crude placards but even in their bigger sections (they have about 7-8 members here), they all use handmade placards.
