I am learning more about marxism but one thing confuses me. How exactly is a socialist state supposed to wither away? It seems to me that with a state that has that much power, it is not going to wither away but grow stronger. So, how does this state "wither away"?

It seems to me that with a state that has that much power, it is not going to wither away but grow stronger.

The whole problem lies right there - the state has too much power in the first place. Remember that the state is only a tool of the people - and a tool can not function without someone wanting it to function in a specific way. In fact, the tool isn't supposed to do anything by itself. Someone has to motivate it into doing something, and that someone is the people.

So, how does the people motivate the tool into doing what they want? Democracy. The human body takes orders from the brain, but that is a single body. Two bodies are two different induviduals, they don't follow the same brain. So, these two induviduals have to agree on what to use to tool for. They do it by debating, taking up problems and consequences that follow if they use the tool in this or that way.

When these two bodies finally agree on what to use the tool for, they start using it. That is socialism, only, there are millions of bodies that has to agree and debate to what to use the tool for. And democracy gives them the answer.

So, how do we stop this tool from running rampage and ordering it's users into doing things it wants? Democracy again. When anybody within the government misuses his or her position, the law must guarantee the people to vote this induvidual out of office, and replacing it with someone else. If the person doesn't do what the people wants he or she to do in that position, then that person is not fit to oversee that branch, may it be economics, law or juridical questions.

Okay, so now we have a democratically functioning government. But how do we get rid of it? Technology is the answer here. The government is overseeing the processes, they take notes and see that everything is according to what the people want it to be.

But at some point in the future, technology will allow robots to be built, to do things much faster and maybe even better. Places where everything can be borrowed and used will be established, where people can simply walk in and take what they need, while robots supply the people. In the end, you can just call the "robot-center" and say what you want, and the robots will collect the material that is necessary and built whatever it is that you want.

Society will run by itself. The government is no longer needed because they have no areas to check, the people don't have to actually do anything, because "people" won't be doing it. Of course, I think people will still be able to have meeting and discuss what the robots should do next, colonize other planets, for example. And, the problem will also be to check those robots so that they don't malfunction and so on, but I suppose every community will have such jobs ready. I think it is in the interest of the majority to have the robots working correctly.

Well, that is my crazy theory. Someone will probably give you a much more better answer :D ...
