Weapons of future, almost ready now
Energy beams, sonic rifles among arms on the horizon
WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 — U.S. warplanes may soon have a powerful new weapon, according to experts who expect any attack on Iraq to deploy high-powered directed energy weapons for the first time. The weapons are hailed as being able to wipe out all electricity, including air defenses, communications and radar, without killing millions of civilians.

OK, it's only a matter of time between the introduction of these weapons on the battlefield and their use to disperse civillian protests, whether in the US or somewhere else. I guess its just one more way to curtail our liberties slowly but surely.

Man, an attack following that is like kicking someone while they're down. So the weapon doesn't kill millions of civilians, but I'm sure the attacks they would make afterwards will killl many, especially if they're unarmed. This is bogus

Its not only that, its a matter of you going out for a demo one day and getting a hummer-mounted microwave turned on you or being shot by a vomit-inducing rifle.

I couldn't watch the video report. So, I didn't get the whole thing. But, I think it's the most humane thing to do outside of getting rid of weapons altogether. I've long be an advocate of cops disarming in favor of something similiar to stun guns, and if the military can stop using weapons that kill, than I am ALL FOR IT.

man! ths is amazing! its amazing of how far theyve gone and how far theyll go to make it seem as if the US doesnt wanna hurt anyone! i mean sure they say its intentional purpose is not to kill, or maybe it can kill if used long enough on you, but they are a new way of getting you down on the ground and watch you cry out in pain as they all laugh at you.
id much rather be dead than let my enemy watch me suffer as some invisible ray that will "hurt like your bodies on fire" is hitting me and making me cry out in pain.
holy shetos this aint good for us all.

yes, it is fucked. i dislike the idea of being shot with a "harmless" bean bag and getting a severe concussion.

Y'know, over here they say that plastic/rubber bullets are non-lethal. Of course, they've been used to murder over a dozen innocent nationalists (a majority of whom were children) and seriously injure even more. They can also lodge themselves into a person's skull, they're so powerful.
How can we possibly know what effect these "directed energy" weapons would have on the human body?

go cut out the glass front to your microwave, stick your arm in it, and turn it on high.

umm...interesting post. I have to say that "MOST: non lethal weaponry is "non lethal"....however rubber bullets and bombs can easily kill a person at close enough range! The Isreali "non lethal" weaponry is a joke. They call thinly coated rubberised steel balls as "non lethal" shotgun slugs, even though they will go straight through a brick wall at 120 yrd's. The lastest in "non lethal" weaponry is called the EHPWC system (Electified High Pressure Water Cannon) which disperses slightly salty water and pumps 75,000 volts into a crowd. The effects are double that of a regular stun gun. Everyone drops.
A very nasty new "non lethal" weapon is called the EMP gun. It is made to deliever a powerfully destructive pulsed radio wave. If you were to aim it at a building it would erase computer data and destroy everthing on an electrical curcuit. On humans, an EMP pulse could cause severe electric shock if you were holding a metal object far away. ODD....sounds like Science Fiction..but the technology is here.

This stuff will only work against them in the end...the more tools that they have at their disposal, the more they will fuck with people. The war is heating up, people.

This is scary... I heard something about a "smell gun", as well. That would be kind of interesting to watch people get hit with. Wasnt there an article in Time or Newsweek about this too?

A smell gun? That's a waste of time, they should just send my brother to Iraq, lol, that'll clear out the civilians

"non-lethal" weapons are just a way of shooting at people, just a efficient way to end strikes and to arrest people!

I first heard about "next generation" non-lethal weapons in reference to demonstrators. The one being touted was a microwave weapon that would only penetrate (if used properly, and you know that the police are all good and honest folk) the skin to a very small degree, something like less than a millimeter, and cause a very painful burning sensation.
There's nothing like making a crown double over before you start beating them with nightsticks
