Hi, I'm new. I'm not a big communist or anything like that, but I am open to new ideas. If you have time feel free to read a bit about me and why I joined this site.

I'm a born American citizen, my mother is from Mexico and my father is an American born Mexican.

I have had many questions in my life regarding family, politics, and God.

I was reared a Catholic and now I have left the Catholic faith due to my inability to 'see' God. I have never seen God influence the world around me nor has he 'saved' me in my time of need when I have tried to communicate through prayer. Many Catholic people are good for the most part, but I have seen many use their religion shape their politics and I now see most Christians as being mislead.

I used to be your typical red, white and blue American. I love America and shared the same 'go get 'em' patriotism that most citizens embrace.

I used to watch FOX News and other popular media and was fine with it until I started seeing things that happened in my world that the news medias would ignore. Many lies are in the news and has left me confused on how to views popular news media.

I am from a border town in Texas and I have seen the negative effects of NAFTA and American policy towards Mexico.

Then I got the internet and started to 'surf'. The floodgates were opened and suddenly new and old ideas I never knew about began to take hold of me. In the begining I was quick to denouce those sites and heavily criticized the U.S. and its policies.

I started to learn about my history and my link to indigenous people of the Americans and latin nations. I studied the revolutionary mind of Che and he soon became a figure that I was able to respect and understood as a person that fought for the betterment of a people I belong to.

I started watching the war in Iraq and as the war progressed the more and more I pushed away from American ideals.

I walk into to forum as a man that feels that corporate greed and American agendas are what destroy my people and culture.

I don't come in pretending that I know what communism is, to be totally honest, the most I know about communism is that Rambo killed lots of them in his movies. :D

I am now disenchanted with capitalism and democracy and the American dream, I feel I know to much to blindly follow the so called 'American Way'. I feel capitalism is a monster that has been let out of its cage and is now wrecking havoc on poor people. I feel democracy is a good thing but the politicians have perverted it to a point of no return, especially when I feel helpless to stop an illegal war in Iraq.

I hope to learn something here and understand why people would support socialism and communism.

Anyways, hi folks and hope to share ideas, this sounds like its going to be fun.

Well you're already half way there -- I think everyone, at least from the US, who is not brought up with these kinds of beliefs goes through a disenchantment period as you called it. Whether long or short... although for you it seems fairly rapid. Lastly, I just want to point out that even calling the US democracy quite a bit off base. If it was democracy, ever, the only people who could have ruined it was the people -- and as you point out, the blame lies elsewhere.

With that said, welcome.

Welcome aztecklaw to the Forum...I relate a lot to your upbringing, being raised Latin and Catholic as well. I, as well, have been disenchanted by the media, the church I was raised in, and the country I have been raised in. Your honesty is really refreshing, and your open mind and personal input is perfect for our forum, because we are all eager to share ideas and experiences with eachother. I hope you stick around, and have some fun...

Welcome, I hope you find lots of usefull info here. I wasn't raised Catholic but chose to become one as an adult, and now I work with leftist communities within the church to bring about socially concious policies in Rome and the world.

I hope you find some ideas and friends here that share your veiws and help give ideas on ways you can effect change.
