Why don't we have a sticky on Nepal yet?

I realize that since King Gyanendra took direct control the site's been down mostly, but I would have thought we would have had a sticky months ago, what with the Maoist rebels controling most of the country and all.

What the BBC has to say about Nepal:

The Moaists activities themselves would have been rendered null and void if the king had not disbanded parliment after the election in 2001. 62% (not exact, I believe it was higher) of all officials elected then were communists. The king knew he could not maintain control under such a circumstance, this entire violent situation is fostered by the king, if he doesn't make the Moaists (inevitably associated with the communist party in Nepal in the eyes of the world, and some Nepalese) look violent and evil he will not get the results he wants in his next election.

This is the sad truth of the situation. The Moaists may indeed be too radical or corrupt, but things were on track for change to occur democratically until the king decided if he didn't change the equation he would lose.

This is again another situation in which all media try to portray these Moaists as evil to supress unity among the poor indeginous people of the world. I would prefer the Moaists win, better than having some elitist completely disconnected from the people ruling their destinies in the name of economic prosperity. What of cultural and human prosperity, the moaists (currently struggling out survival in the jungle) would more easily identify with this than some wacked out monarch.

You can't allow any pretext to illegitimize what the Moaists are doing, this is exactly what capitalists want to do to create division.

That's very interesting, thanks.
