I spell it America
Why: Cause I could give a damn that people want to relate the name of a single region on the map with a United States fringe group like the KKK.
Personally I think it's a shame more poeple don't start saying the US when they talk about the US rather than America, as America implies a lot more than that. However, I realize it's difficult when trying to talk about the people of the US, who are often called Americans. In which case, I call them, Americans.
If I wanted to misspell a lot more things I'd probably be stupid enough to try and go to a website like http://www.unlearn.tk/ to try and "unlearn" things.

Interesting to note, The US doesn't really have a name :o the country people die for is the United States of America, but the entire hemisphere is America, so really they are just the United States, but Mexico is the United States of Mexico, so that obliterates any sense in the United States being the United States of the Americas, so really its the United States of nothing! :o
Me and my friends suspect that with the passing of the Monroe Doctrine the idea was that eventually the "United States of nothing" would eventually control all of the Americas, then it could rightfully call itself the United States of America, until then it is a gradious blast of pomposity!

Actually I believe the main proponent of the Monroe Doctrine was none other than that supposed hero, killer of Native Americans, Teddy Rooservelt, well known to many Iranians as his grandson reinstated the Shah with a lay away plan.
No I am no supporter of what one history prof used to explain as, "No one in the US knows what it is but is willing to send their first born son to die for : 'the Monroe Doctrine'" but CAFTA is speaking of damned initials for blasted things. The Central American "Free" Trade Agreement, or new Nafta is the latest stage of this dreaded game plan hatched by Manifest Destiny minds still angry about forfeiting control of Panama, due to the uprising of the entire country.

I spell it like Ameriqua allways... cause that's cool.
Nah, I can't find any cool way to spell United States or America so I don't. All the ones I've seen are really overplayed and abnoxious.

The most I do is when I'm refering to the U.S. I'll occasionally through in a U.$.
I spell it like a normal human being: US or USA to refer to the country of the United States of America. All of the other spellings are just juvenile.

U.S.
Why?
Because there are fewer letters, and I'm a lazy bum.

AMERICA is the name of a whole continent.
In Latin America we use to say "Estados Unidos", which means United States.
The people: "estadounidenses", never Americans.
