Anyone ever see the movie? I thought the beginning when the teacher was talking about the justification of the pseudo-fascist Federation and the failure of Democracy was the best. I also thought the movie satirized the workings of fascism and the military rather well.

I don't know much about the book, as I haven't read it.

The film is fairly good. It had a great director, Paul Verhoeven. But it didn't really flech out the plot. Much of what could have been a good plot all came through at the end, but not time was given to drawing it out - specifically the relationship between the main soldier characters.

But, it is still an okay film since it had such a good director - but it could have been a lot better.
