Comrades, i need your great advice,

My High School is redneck school. I appear to be the only Leftist. Anything remotley leftist is completely crushed by my teachers. I beleive i should start something in my school if their are any other leftists. Debaters are a select few students who ahev the schools view and are pretty much puppets without them knowing it. There are cameras all over my school, i will get in trouble if i put up fliers. I am going to see if theirs a place where i am completely out of view. I would liek to know how to start and continue with this. I live in Canada. I admire many of you and would greatly appreciate your advice.

Thanks for your time comrades,

What type of posters/fliers are you going to put up, and what is their purpose?

I'm thinking you pull something big, disable the security system and put up the flyers, students would be interested even if they aren't leftists because of what great lengths "someone" went to

Or they would be terribly pissed of and he would be ridiculed the rest of his time in that school. I would suggest putting up fliers for a school based organization. Leftist, free thinking, economic forums...whatever. If people tear them down, talk to your principal about forming the organization. Make it legit through their system rather than going around it. If that still doesn't work then just put the fliers up constantly. Try to avoid anything with a blatant political message.

I know where you're coming from. I'm in a redneck railroad town...

Anyway, there was a case in my school a year back that some students wanted a KKK club. The school refuse, it got taken to court, and they got their club. So I'm not sure if this works will all school districts, but I believe that as long as it is a public place that can hold clubs, they really can't deny any clubs without surpressing the freedom to hold private meetings.

That kkk club is almost unbelievable. If you are still attending that school, you should start your own Hezbollah club. See what they say.

There is a KKK club at your school?

through my small understanding of American Law (not positive about Canada), the deal is, if you want to start a club etc. on government property the place has the right to initially refuse. However, if any other sort of club at all is held on that same property the admin loses that refusal right. However, this only works on government property and I am not sure about Canada.

However dude, schools are hard things to workd around since they can actually cause you, or atleast your education, problems. My advice, don't do something stupid and possibly even illegal. Instead try and work within their system as others have suggested and possibly try and get them to debate you on their views and yours. Make it non-partisan. It sounds like a shit situation dude, I'm pretty lcuky really, my school is pretty centrist and allows all my lefty stuff.

i grew up in a red-neck hill-billy town with all sorts of reactionaries. My senior year I ran for school board and was told by the administration i couldn't run becuase my signatures were handed in to the wrong office but i wasn't told until the day after the signatures were due. I also tried to put up fliers and start legitimate leftist organizations but to no avail. So what you need to do is go beyond this and make a name for yourself. Do WHATEVER it takes to bring attention to your cause. My senior year, after the school board debacle, me and three other people stole the american flag from the front of the school and burnt it in protest of the school board denying contracts to custodians and teachers aides. This proved effective to our cause; we got on the local news and were able to tell how the custodians had been working for the past three years without contracts--subsequently making less than the part-time student life guards at the school/community pool. Sometimes you have to do the most drastic measures for your cause. Its really up to you and how far you're willing to go.

I think im going to put up flyers stating what communism actually is because in my view at least, they ahve no idea what it is.. They werere brought up in teh stereotype that communism os Evil even though they dont know what it means.

Make a website.
It's not that hard, all you need is one of those template ones from freewebs.com or something.
Write everything down on it that you want to, manifesto, ideas, topics for debates and so on..
Add a forum to it.
Make some stickers or flyers with just the website on and put them around school. If you think your school will have a problem with it then put them in places out of site of the camera. Like on the backs of toilet doors or on walls surrounded by lots of people.

Atleast this way you might be able to find similar minded people easily.

put up flyers and if they get you in trouble just sight your rights to free speech, take it to the courts if you have to

Excellent idea. I have done this many times. Also, tell your friends about the site and offer them a free burnt cd or something. They will go to it. Fill the site with all the propaganda you can! You might very well get someone interested, while at the same time avoiding the problems with posting flyers around school. Also, if you plan to make a group, make it underground. Hold your meetings while you eat lunch. It is very hard to have an official group so start an underground one.

If they use propaganda, use propaganda back.
If they use emotionalism, use emotionalism back.

Simply be the counter-reactionary

Another good tactic is to create a schoool newspaper, if it is produced without school materials and printed with your own supplies, you can distribute throughout school without them being able to censure it (provided it does not have profanity or anything illegal, just use common sense) This is in the US. I started this newspaper my freshmen year and it is going strong, it is mainly covers international news, school issues, and basic leftist ideas. I has been a sucess and we have organized debates against the school Young Republicans, which is sponsered by a teacher. This is a effective way of getting your message out to the student body without going through the school.
