"On behalf of all Americans, Laura and I send our heartfelt best wishes to Pope John Paul II," Bush said in a statement. "The Holy Father is in our thoughts and prayers and we wish him a speedy recovery and return to the service of his church and of all humanity."

I'm not sure if i'm just paranoid, but doesn't that go against the church and state policy?

My proof (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=544&ncid=693&e=3&u=/ap/20050224/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_pope)

Hoping a foriegn dignatary recovers from surgery probably doesn't violate the seperation of church and state principles. Certainly not as much as the crap Bush usually does.

I think it's ironic that Bush would say that about the Pope after the pope condemned his war and said some not so nice things about him.

Ya but he did it on behalf of all americans, many americans despise the pope, but I know we shouldn't make a big deal of it... <_<

Here's hoping for a speedy death.

Then a large rock landing on the place of cardinals when they meet and killing all of them (quickly of course).

Then the entire Catholic community world wide relieasing that maybe God doesn't really want them to have a pope any more.
