In history we,ve been studying the build up to WW2. The other day we studyed the Italian conquest of Abyssinia (now Ethiopia). Mussolini wanted to make italy great again like the roman emipre was and to do this he was going to attack a drought strickened country in easten africa. Of course this was laughed at by many world leaders and the only countries that offered to help Haille Selassie (yeah that reggae guy), Emperor of Abyssinia, was the USSR and my countrie, New Zealand :D .

I'm not looking for an argument or anything just think this is funny thats all.

It's a bit more comical when you look at some of the major reasons for Mussolini attacking there in the first place.

Supposedly when the Italians made an attempt on Abyssinia in the 19th century, the Abyssinians actually castrated the hordes of Italian soldiers before sending them back.

To be sure, Abyssinia was probably about the only place Mussolini could successfully invade; spearmen were about the most his army could handle.

Like the old joke about the Italian army says: Italian tanks have 5 gears - four for reverse and one in case they get attacked from behind. ;)

He described it as an 'humanitarian intervention'. Does it sound familiar?
