I'm English, with 1/16th Irish on my mum's side, an unknown amount of Irish on my dad's, possible Scottish, Welsh and more Irish on my Mum's side.
What ethnic groups were around in North London in the early 1900's? My paternal great grandfather was born in Kentish Town in c1904, and i have a feeling that he could be partly foriegn - which of course would be great. Also, whats the nearest football club to Kentish town? They might have been supported by my great grandad, even after he came up North.

True indeed....
But beeing proud of where you come from can be beautifull, and certainly verry usefull if you want to start a revolution.... HATING OTHER NATIONS on the other hand, is verry dangerous, and wrong. And, indeed, at the end, were all citizens of the Earth, But as long as their are people who dont want the best for everybody, we wont be completely as one.......
My opinion is that everybody needs to get rid of the dictators, before we can become 1 united menkind...

I guess that makes sense, if there weren't very many people in Europe before 1400 BCE. I mean if you went back far enough, everyone in this thread would share at some point the same great... great... Grandfather, right?
I think this was just a typo but you meant 'Before Common Era' is a non-christian way of saying 'Before Christ'.

1/4 Cowichan Indian, of the Quamichan band (from Vancouver, Canada), 1/8 Mexican Indian, most likely from the area that's now the state of Puebla, 1/8 Spanish.
^ That's my father's side.
My mother's side is pretty much all Spanish, though my grandfather had a little Mexican Indian blood (from Durango).
Both my grandparents on my mother's side were born in Durango, Mexico. They moved to El Paso, Texas, which is where my mother was born. On my father's side, my grandmother was born in Canada. She was full-blooded Cowichan Indian. My grandfather was born in Puebla, Mexico, and my father was born in Seattle, Washington. I was born in Sacramento, California, but now live in El Paso, Texas with my mother and brother. I've lived in the u$ all my life.
As a side note, I'm thinking my ethnicity can break down even further. Just think about the Spanish for a second. Spain was occupied by the Moors for what, 750 years? It's possible that's in me too. All this diversity is great, but in the end though, I'm just a human being.

Calm down there comrade. I think this is more a celebration of cultural diversity. No one here is saying "my nationality is better than yours" or anything like that. It's just a show of unity between people from different backgrounds from all parts of the world. I suppose the term ETHNICITY would have been better than NATIONALITY, but in any case, yes, when it comes down to it, we're all just human beings; citizens of the world.

My nationality is American, as for my ethnicity: I'm Irish on both sides of my family, with some Scottish on my dad's side. Both sides of my family left Ireland in 1847. (Mass starvation) My mom's side came to New York City and my dad's side went to Glasgow Scotland. My dad's parents came to New York City in 1929.
My great grandfather smuggled guns to Ireland during the rebelion, and my grandfather was part of the IRA... he had spent time in jail for anti-government crimes. He would never had been able to come into the US if in a fluke he happened to have been born in the US when his parents were in Boston looking for work in 1906.

I can't trace anything back too far (okay, I'm too lazy), but that's somewhat like my family (mother, at least). . .
Mother's side moved to Canada, and Father's side didn't run anywhere, they just starved in Ireland.
Born in N. Ireland.
Older brother still lives in Belfast, and a couple of my older cousins are recently out of prison (for conspiracy of being Catholic* in the wrong place at the wrong time), and have since moved to Cork.
I'm U.K. and Canadian citizen, and when I get married this autum, I'll have U.S. citizenship (oh, boy <_< )

My great grand father from my mothers side was a veteran of the spanish-civil war. He immigrated (like so many other vets) to the carribean islands. In my case Puerto Rico. My family from my father's side came from Italy after WWII to Puerto Rico. Don't ask me why because I don't know. They stayed there for many decades untill my father was born and my mother(who was in the same town) was born also. They met during their teenage years and I was the produnct of a night full of drinking. So I'm from the last colony in the western hemisphere, Puerto Rico. (Sorry for having to read my long story) :D

Anyways, it doesn't matter, we all belong to the same entity( communism or somewhere along the continuum.)
Thanks anyway, for clarifying.

Scottish on my Father's side, German/Russian on my Mother's side. It's hard to explain, but my ancestors were oppressed by Hitler and moved into the Eastern Block. They stayed there for one generation I think, then many came to Canada. So I don't know if that qualifies for the Russian aspect. But many people on my Mother's side think that we are potentially related to Hitler :( .

nationality? put me down as "proletarian internationalist."
I am a revolutionary, not a nationalist. I identify as a citizen of the world, a representative of a communist future who is operating in the present.
And i most definitely do NOT identify as an American.
As marx said (in one of those phrases that is both pithy and profound): "The proletariat has no fatherland!"

And the fact that they don't have a patriot act that restrict people's freedom...and that they don't have companies who fool workers to put shares in their own company and bribe owners...that they don't have presidents who wage imperialist wars and cut rich people's taxes meanwhile increasin' the poorest's, or the fact that gay marriages are legal there..right..I don't see much difference, no

I am NOT an African-amerikkkan, but I am an African P.O.W. of the "Maafa" ("My Ah Fah" means "Great Catastrophe"). I can't tell you if I am a Zulu or a Xhosa or a Yoruba or a Ibo or a Falani or a Mandinka or a Wolof or a Dogon or an Amhara or a Falasha or a Masai or a Dahomey or a Shona or a Bantu or ANYTHING like that. That part of me is lost. I know nothing of myself except that I am an African and somewhere in the past, my ancestors were forcebly removed from Africa and brought to amerikkka.

One grandmother is from Germany, the other from New York (not sure where originally), and my gandfather is from Poland. My other gandfather is from a family that lived in "Palestina" from the early 19th century and came from Europe (I think the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but I'm not so sure). Anyway, my grandfather was one of the founders of the Cnaanian Movement that emphesized the Middle Eastern roots and culture of the Semites (Jews and Arabs alike) as an anti-thesis for Zionism and religious nationalities of Muslims and Jews.
I have an Israeli, American and German citizenship, and very diverse roots- so I consider myself of a cosmopolitan nationality.
