Are you technically a communist living in a capitalistic society or can you only be a communist living in a communist society.

Well, last time I checked, Communism is a political ideology as well as an economic system, so if you believe in that ideology, you are a Communist. :)

True communism is a political ideology,as well as certain certain, but a communist then is someone who advocates or supports that form of society. But are can you support communism while also supporting capitalism. Because unless you try hard to distance yourself from it, you still usually connected to the machine. Almost like, can you be in KKK and Nation of Islam.

Well, can you love animals in a society that slaughters them?
I consider myself an animal lover, and it manifests itself in my social and personal assaults on the machine which destroys them . . . would people question whether or not I love animals?
Well, somewhere along the line, the money I spend finds its way to the systems of slaughter - so I can't say I'm completely innocent. Ultimately, however, I believe it is meaningful action taken to smash the methods of murder that matter, more than any petty lifestylist attempt to shut myself away in the woods and live without harming my non-human friends.
The same applies to my communism - sure, I could live outside capitalism, in a little hut in the woods - but that would just be abusing white privillage, and not fixing anything for the greater toiling mass of humanity. My communism is affirmed in acts of refusal and revolution.

You can be a communist in a capitalist society, but I dont think you could be a communist in a communist society. Because I buy stuff does not mean that I cannot be a communist.

Well...why should you? A communist in a communist society is superflous, we have allready done our part...politics is not an issue anymore. We have reached our destination and should continue on with other tasks, building our society etc. Communist struggle is no more needed.

There were capitalists under feudalism...in fact, there were even religious communists under feudalism (not many but some).

Being a communist in a capitalist society simply means that you assume the obligation to struggle for communism in any way that you can.

Yes, there are capitalists in a capitalist society. But the correct equivalent to capitalist is not communist, but rather proletarian. Are there proletarians in a communist society? No. And neither there will be communists in a communist society, even though liberals (or other pro-capitalists) exists in a capitalist society. They are needed, a liberal fills a function in a capitalist society - to maintain this class society through ideological production. A communist is not needed to maintain a communist society, because communism is a stable society, there will not be any major forward-pushing forces for the communists to fight, because communism is the most developed society possible, even though society (of cource) can develop further within communism.

Sure I wouldn't struggle to achieve Communism, but I would be active to maintain Communism. Just like the current Cappies are busy to maintain Capitalism.

You would have to live by the economic mode of production in each society, but that does not mean you cannot be a supporter of a system where the means of production have a different role in society, than the one you currently live in.

I would hope that all communists after capitalism is overthrown will volunteer for community work projects and help rebuild destruction that has taken place in the revolution.

That would be a good idea; although the organisation for it would have to be extreme.

I bet it could be pulled off without too much of a hassle.

and those that don't should be forced to , so you can make every one equal. but then the people doing the forcing now have power over those that don't (there i go again counteracting my own point of view) .

i think i am a communist but not an active one, as i only belive in the philosphy , but have not done anything about it (apart from buy a soviet flag/badge /hat and decorated my room)
