This morning I was talking to a friend of mine who lives in Middle Island New York. She told me that last night her dog got out of her yard and she ran after it. She finally caught up to the dog on someone's front lawn a few blocks away.
By chance, she happened to look up into the living room window of the house. What she saw shocked the hell out of her. Half a dozen or so people clad in white sheets and hoods, and a confederate flag on the wall. Frightened that they may see her and lynch her, she grabbed the dog and ran home as fast as she could.
Middle Island/Yaphank is an odd place. I know just down the road from her ( a road once called "Adolph Hitler Road) is a neighborhood where the residents where all Nazi sympathizers during the war.
But, What does this mean that the KKK is active up here in New York? Is the influence of white supremacy groups spreading?

fortunatly we donīt have "the klan" here, but we have neo-naziz (and lots of them), I have heard that the klan is still very active, the racist moral we have in the world has to be considered as danger! I just donīt get it why people think this way (we are in living in the 21st century for christs sake!!)

We have the Heritage Front Movement. They're also a group of white supremists. A few months back I was coming home from school and I noticed a confederate flag hanging in someones window, I got so angry I started a ruckus on the bus!

It's quite sickening that someone in Canada would have that flag in their window. And, I think is shows that despite all the numerous claims that the flag only stands for southern heritage and states rights... it's mostly associated as a racist symbol. I seriously doubt someone in New York, or Nova Scotia Canada, would hang up that flag because they are proud to be a southerner.

Felicia, when i was in Canada a few years ago we stopped of f in a place called eganville, mad uyp of postwar German/Polish immigrants. . Anyway it was a pretty creepy place, we picked up the local paper which was just full of Nazi trash and conspiracy theories. There was also a gun fair which we went to take a look at which along with many frightening looking guns was selling SS hats.
PS the klan are a bunch of fuckits, theywould make me laugh if they wont so dangerous

I have spent a lot of time in Eganville and have a lot of family there. I will admit there are a lot of narrow-minded rednecks in the area and they elected a Canadian Alliance MP, I have not hear of any Nazis. Can you give any examples of Nazi stuff in the local paper (I take it that it was The Eganville Leader)?

I'm of two minds on this.
First, I think the Klan is little more threat anymore than any other secret society. And I don't think that every Klansman necessarily "hates" blacks or Jews. Many times, Klan membership (even today) is a cultural exercise, especially in the white, rural south. Kind of a secret thrill kind of thing.
I've known Klansman (I'm from the deep south) who work all week in a mixed workplace and have no problems. Then, on the weekend, they go to Klan barbecues out in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn't say this if I didn't have experience with members of the KKK, but I really don't fear them, even though I'm "Roman Catholic."
On the other hand, I'd be extremely suspicious of any group of people outside the south who would join the Klan. Their motivations are probably far more hate-filled than your average good ol' boy lighting a cross on Saturday night.
By the way, my Great Uncle was one of those Nazi sympathizers. He was a member of a group called the DAV or Deutsch-Amerikanischer Volksbund. And he was from Pennsylvania.

I heard awhile ago that there was a new white supremascist group in my area but tey cant have been that dangerous since i never heard of them again.
But in general i dont think the klan have the sheer numbers to be really dangerous.

The Klan is very strong over here. White Protestant supremicists who just happen to call themselves the Orange Order. The name of their leader, Grandmaster, comes directly from the Granddragon title.

I would kill them,
But no one here would agree with solving it with 'violence'. Then again, they do target civilians, and that qualifies them as a terrorist group. They also live in the United States, qualifying that as a 'Terrorist state'. Hmm. Interesting. Too bad the FBI never declares war on Nazis and Racists.

That's all so horrific! Thank god I don't really know any racists, at school the black people are generally the most popular. They are all pretty clever, very sporty and very rich. Most of them come from nigeria (I'm at boarding school) so you can't get away with being racist.
People I know kinda see the KKK as a joke, I just think they're sick.
if you ever come acorss a white supremisist try to explain to them the flaws in their opinion, we can't live in a world where the colour of someone's skin is more important than "the content of their character " (isn't that what Martin Luther King said?).

Yow..
I'm glad we don't have those in here. Rascist we do have, but no kkk's.
As somebody said, I'd laugh at them. if they wouldn't be so strong. I think those hoods are silly - but spooky.

Explain to them!? It never works, bunny. You should know better. If you're lucky, they won't try to kill you for trying to talk some sense into them.

I don't think the Klan is growing more popular again. The rest of the pro white groups are growing really fast though in the USA.

nic8 i dont know the name of the paper, I was their several years ago on m way to visiting family.
What I remember were articles, some subtle and some not subtle, outlining the international conspiracy theory. The one i remember ranted insecently about the control of the the 'goldsmiths'
it seemed pretty mainstream in the area. all the businesss advertised in it.
MAYBE IT GOT A WARPED VIEW OF THE AREA - IF SO APOLIGIES.
PS Ku Klux Klan should be smashed. Youd think even they would be satisfied wih the amount black americans haave already suffered

Well, I must admit that the Klan always seemed to be a distant problem to me and I was more worried about other groups that seem to be more open here.. I agree.. we should "Smash the Klan"...

My girlfriend has Hallmark TV, and I have just finished watching ''Who killed the Atlanta children''
The Film charges the KKK of killing 30 black children and setting up a black man to take the fall. He is still in jail.
I am still a bit shocked.

J Edgar Hoover also waged war on civilians, and spied on dissidents in order to ruin they're lives. That was the ONLY good thing he did.

I've heard the "Klan Theory" about the Atlanta child murders before. But the guy they caught was seen by another black person dumping a body in the river. He wasn't set up...he was just crazy.

I agree with you that the Klan are a bunch of sickos, but they shoudn't be smashed everyones should be entitled to their own opinion.

they should be entitled to their own opinion and they are, but its not always just opinion that they want. they may not be all that physical anymore but harassing is just as bad and they still do that. harassment of any kind shouldn't be tolerated.

i know a neo-nazi in my school, he called me a dog-eating gook, then i pimp-slapped him and he tried to swing at me, but he missed and i was able to land like 10 punches to his head before he hit the ground, then i stomped on his head when he tried to grab my balls, all of a sudden he had this funny look on his face then i realized he was in shock and he was going into convulsions, the school suspended me for one week, imagine that, i rid my school of a fascist and i get a one week vacation, i guess the system does work

In the news, a while ago, a piece was aired about a black family that had burning crosses on their front lawn (no question it was a hate crime). A bunch of churches here in Nova Scotia were burned down by a bunch of hoolagans, I think it was hate related but I can't remember the motive behind them. I think it was on easter weekend, that could be it.

that is shocking, i have to say. was there a lot of proof that the KKK did it? that's the problem, the general public don't have good enough access to the truth, that's why I want to be a jounralist , to help infrom people correctly as much as i can. you think that's good? It'll be damn nigh impossible but I can try.

I live in Canada too! Yes, the KKK and other hate groups do operate out of some of the provinces. They aren't very big groups, but they are dangerous none the less. As for the "Canadian Allience Party" supporting rascists....I would highly doubt that. Many Allience MP's are on the "commitee for human rights". We might totally disagree with their politics, but they are NOT rascist supporters.
