I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere. And for starters, I'd like to say that it's not my views either; I believe that whatever occurs in the bedroom is no business of any of ours, and if they want to get married (I prefer the term civil union because it removes any religious connotations) they should get all the privileges of doing so.

Anyway, to my real question. Can one be a true Communist, and still be opposed to homosexual behaviour and marriage? My brother thinks he's a communist, or at least very left wing, but fiercely opposes pretty much homosexuality all together. I fear for his political allegance :( .

I don't know, well surley communisms all about equality, and opposing homosexual rights opposes equality so i suppose not.

That's pretty much my belief. The only people I feel don't deserve equality would be the former Bourgeoisie.

I undetstand that. And I'm not forcing him to believe anything. I just wish he wouldn't call himself a communist if he doesn't believe in total equality.

He's a sympathizer who hasn't learned enough yet to be a communist.

Just ask him, why does he believe in dividing the workingclass?

See, he only gives me religious answers...and he's scarcely religious himself. But he considers homosexuality unnatural. Which is complete and utter non-sense if something upwards near 10% of the population is homosexual. I can't even discuss it with him because his beliefs aren't even grounded.

Explain to him as Marxists we believe in nothing but the material, and scientific.

This religion crap is dangerous.

Explain to him that science has found it is natural, it's found amongst bonobos, seagulls all sorts of animals.

I was having a conversation with a friend (and don't ask how it got to this; mainly because I honestly don't remember :lol: ) and he was saying that male species' homosexuality is often a dominance thing. But yes I am aware of such homosexuality in other animals. Many times it's used to "assist" with the mating process.

The religious crap bothers me too.

But I've only used scientific evidence. I just hope he can be persuaded otherwise... :unsure:

Technically yes. But he's much taller then me :lol: . Not that it matters I know I'm stronger than him. But violence is part of the reason I detest my other younger brother. Anytime he can't resolve a debate intelligently, he just threatens violence or starts yelling. I'd become everything I hate if I did what you recommend. I hope to solve this one intellectually.

I agree. Violence is only necessary for self-defense or oppression (if the oppression cannot be solved intellectually.)
