Well, I just heard a song now (that had lyrics) with what I think is a Beethoven tune which was "modernised" with guitars and drums.

I was wondering what it is called, and who is it by?

Sorry, but is that the title, artist? I have searched that, and I have found no results.

Or are you referring to something totally different?

You crack me up, James.
He means progressive rock: a genre of music that blends jazz and/or classical with rock.

I have no idea what the fuck the song you're talking about is. What Beethoven song does this song sound like?
Where did you heart it?
Were there vocals?

LOL. How am I supposed to know about all of these strange music categories? I just listen to the stupid things, not immerse myself in the theoretical jargon. :D

Like, what the hell is "rock" anyway? Is that when you use rocks to make your music?

(Don't worry... I'll get my coat soon enough.)

Anyway, the song had lyrics, which is why I referred to the tune of it. It was a very average song indeed, but I loved the tune.

Wouldn't have any idea what Beethoven piece it is derived from (EDIT: 5th Symphony).

It came out late 2003/early 2004... I actually remember listening to it once or twice back then.

I know that neo-classical metal guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen made a version of it, got it right here on my pc. Dunno when it's from though.

(edit: sorry, didn't read that the song you listened to had lyrics. Must be something else then)
