All too often in these forums I see people talking about Communist and Left Wing beliefs as if they are universally held within those communities. When someone puts forward an argument, the reply is often along the lines of "yes but that would contradict principle x which all you commies love".
Well, no actually, we don't all love the same things, and i spend a lot of words in arguing against the same people that you are arguing against, just from different grounds.
There is as wide a plethora of belief in Communism as there is within Capitalism, pertaining to all kinds of subjects given by each person their own level of significance.
Anyway, this is just a polite request that you try to answer people individually and in relation to the points they raise, instead of making arguments against this strange Hive Creature 'Communists'.

I do recognise that the issue is confused somewhat by those within the left wing who say things like 'someone isnt a real communist unless they say x' or whatever, but it shouldn't be too difficult to ignore this kind of nonsense.

Yes, the same may be said of 'Capitalism', mind. In fact there is even more diversity in non-communist beliefs, because they are more popular.

My point here was that it can be said of both pigeon holes.

Also, you cannot demonstrate a greater diversity in non-communist beliefs, though you may make conjecture on it, and even feel confident in your conjecture.
It is not fact
Whilst it may well be the case that there is a greater diversity in one given pigeon hole, you have to remember that the boundaries are arbitrary and self-ascribed, and therefore pretty much inconsequential.

As for the diversity within non-communist beliefs, a factor that one might also want to remember is that those with non-communist beliefs are quite often 'conformists'. People who do not actually develop new ideas for themselves, but rely almost entirely on ideas produced by other people.

If we make a study of the political ideologies expressed and accepted the pigeon holes as they stand then you will find that there is pretty much the same amount of diversity within all pigeon holes, because aside from one's direct political beliefs we each have a vaster number of philosophical and aesthetic beliefs for which there is very little agreement. Some people tie these beliefs into their political ideologies, others do not. The contextual change this makes to the meaning of the indivdual shared political beliefs means that diversity is practically speaking infinite and infinitessimal. We can divide politics into broad categories, which we can then divide down again, and again, and again, to whatever level of refinement we feel most comfortable with.

What is more, in the sense of the abstract potential existence of concepts there is an infinite number of possible beliefs that we could ascribe to, and label.

Wurd.
