View Full Version : Who gets the bigger house?

I'm attacked with the question, "Who gets the bigger houses?" when talking of this society. I usually say something like, "TEAR EM DOWN!" or "They'd be used as museums, schools, etc."

My question is... Who would? What would we do with the mansions and stuff. I figure people would get a two story house. (Think middle class).

Also, wouldn't special accomodations be made for people with kids and what not?

How would "property" be distributed. And if someone has a nice description of "abolishing private property" that'd be nice. Mine isn't that good. I feel it's missing a lot.

"Abolishing private property" means nationalizing the means of production. Karl Marx meant by that phrase was abolishing any private property that generates capital, to put it simply.

People will still be allowed to keep personal belongings, like your toothbrush ect.

Burgeoise buildings (mansions ect.) would be seized by the state I guess, what to do with them is when a useful idea seems fit for it.

Maybe the Paris Commune can give us some ideas.

Churchs can become public urinals. ;)

Mansions could be used as apartment buildings and hotels.

Does anyone know Doctor Shiwago (a book) from Tolstoy? It is about the russian revolution.
As far as I remember, there the mansion of Doctor Shiwago was used as an apartment building and so every family got one room and used the kitchen and so on together.
Anyway, something like that could happen,so that people who are homeless today have a home.Thats quite realistic,I think.

Doctor Zhivago - it was by Boris Pasternak.

It was also a film, which I still need to in its entirity.

It was not by Tolstoy, who, coincidently, was an anarchist.

The use of "big houses" would probably be decided upon by collectively by the communities in which the big houses reside. It is silly to establish a grand set of rules to apply to all big houses when individual circumstances are unique, and communism thrives on democracy.

Mansion like what happen in USSR are good for shared housing of government officals who need to live and work in the same place.

big houses would probably hold 2 or more families or used for housing for asylum seekers or used as the place where all the decisions are made the possibilities are endless.

Haha, no need to appologise Comrade. I confess, I remembered it wasn't by Tolstoy, but I had to double-check "Pasternak".

After the revolution, I'm moving into a bell tower, hunchback-stylee.

I'd like to think that The White House would become an execution house for corrupt right-wing imperialists like Bush, Cheney etc

i think some bulldings such as the white house should remain open as musuems to tell us about history and how life was before the revoloution.

Bigger house to bigger family. More people you have more room you need.
