Hello, comrade. U dont seem to be a Muslim, wht's the X for? If i do remeber correctly, Malcolm X's X meant uncertainty....anyhoo, I am a Chinese Marxist, despite my bourgeoise background. Warmest greetings!

RedStarOverChina,
It is true that i invoke X for the same reason as Brother Malcolm did. However, i fear that you may misunderstand his (and my) reason for invokeing the x. As far as i have read into Malcolm X, he did not invoke the X on any religious Grounds (i definately do not, as i am strictly a secular humanist). You are correct in your guess that X stood for uncertainty. But it also stands for the unknown.
For Brother malcom, X stood for the culture and roots he could never know. He could not trace his lineage back more than a couple of generations, because of the African Diaspora caused by the american slave trade. His Family's last name was not Little, it was the last name of the slave owner who "possesed" his ancestors.
My X also stands for the culture and roots i can never fully know. I am Xicano (also know as Chicano, or Just a person of mexican desent born in america), And i will never know my true roots. I have no way of finding out how much (or for that matter little) of my heritage is Indigenous (north, central or south american), How much is Spanish, or how much is African ( For a time when the spanish controled mexico, there were more Africans then spanish, also a result of the slave trade).
Also, for me X stands for the unknown world i seek out by seeking a socialist world, Which is unthinkable (and Frighting) for most capitalists. Thats why i invoke the X.
Just thought i'd lay that down for ya!
Oh yeah, and Wiesty, Thanks for welcoming me to this humble commie shack, i feel at home already!
In Solidarity,
Carlos X

Wow, pretty tense. As much as I feel for the emotional past of ur people, I must congratulate you: Since u dont have the baggage of family history, u can focus more on the future.
I 'm sure u'll fit right in. Go speak out and listen wht others have to say. I must confess I'm deeply touched by your story. Good luck!

Good point! Thats pretty much i can say to that. Its the best thing i've heard so far about lacking a true history as a possitive. And i say that with all honesty, because everyone (not true mostly just capitalists), say, "the past doesn't matter anyway so why should you care?"
Thanks for helping me feel welcome
In solidarity,
Carlos X
