Hi comrades

I was wondering about Alberto Granados (Che´s partner in the motorcycle trip). Where is he now and what is he doing? I heard that he still lives in Cuba, but i´m having trouble finding information about him on web in english.

I have read The Motorcycle Diaries so I know all about his past, I need information on his present life for a documentary i´m producing in the summer.

If any of you could be so kind to give a website with information of him, or just information you know about I would be very grateful.

I´m also curious if there is anybody here from Cuba, please clarify yourself then.

Greetings from Iceland

Greetings from El Paso, Texas. (u$a) ;)

Well, as far as I know, yes, he still lives in Cuba. Other than that, I remember hearing that he travels and gives speeches on his experiences with Che during their motorcycle trip. Wish I had more info for you, but I don't. But welcome to the RL Forum. Hope you enjoy your stay.

The documentary is a travel story around the "real Cuba". Not about cigars or old cars. I´m producing it for a Icelandic t network. In the documentary, ther will be three guys driving around all of Cuba, and small chapters about Che, Fidel and the revolution.

I repeat my question: Is there anybody here from Cuba, or do you know a website where there are Cubans on-line (ordinary people, not dollar chasing companies)?

Don´t give me the speech on the internet situation in Cuba, I know all about it.

Thank you all very much for your responses. Best regards from Iceland.

Alberto Granados, grew up with Che (he was 8 years older I believe) and was already a marxist when they began their motorcycle journey, I believe it was Alberto who's responsible for Ernesto becoming the man he became.

He lives in Cuba I believe, Patrick Syymes had a drinking contest with him about 5 years ago and that was in Cuba. That's all I have to go on I'm afraid.

According to the epilouge on JLa's book,

"Che's friend Alberto Grando remains in Cuba. Now in his mid-seventies, he is a sprightly grandfatherly figure who retains a taste for rum and good tangos. Venerated as Che's "friend", he has published a few books about his relationship with Che and travels the world giving talks about their experiences together."

thats all it says in the epilouge. This was published in 97, so he may not be alive, though im sure he is.

on the "motorcycle diaries" dvd special features, they had an interview with Alberto Granado in Cuba, and at the end they have the whole family around him. Seems like he has a lot of kids and grandkids.
