I believe the US is just using Sept 11 as an excuse to get back at any nation who may have caused the US "trouble" in the past. Included in this category is Iraq. On the news the other day i saw where it said US planes had been flying above Iraq or something. All i have to say though is that when the US does attack Iraq. I will be starting a protest! CHE VIVE!

It was a bit alarming how America explained that Iraq would be included in the destruction of terrorism. America normally pursues a policy of isolationalism but now that has been interupted they are out to 'set the world right'
Yere busghwill probally get boread!

I think instead of waiting until they bomb ANOTHER country, we should protest NOW. All they are doing is killing innocent people (from all the things I've read).

This is just a sick game between a an inhumane tyrant (Saddam) and a ruthless corporate dictatorship (The US government), with no regard what so ever to the deplorable treatment and perpetual suffering of the Iraqi people, who are the only victims in this drama. Basically, as things stand right now, the only remotely plausible excuse that the Bush government could use for attacking Iraq is Saddam's refusal to allow the UN arms inspectors back into the country, even though several UN observers have confirmed that the Iraqi military infrastructure has been completely obliterated. Furthermore, the US insistence on replacing the unanimously appointed UN weapons inspectors with their own inspectors (who have been caught spying in the past) has further alienated their traditional allies and angered the International community. Consequently, the US government (who is in danger of even losing their closest ally, The UK) has resorted to its irresponsible rhetoric of calling Iraq a terrorist state, whose sole reason for existence is the destruction of western civilisation and particularly the United States and the great american dream. Naturally, whilst the american public might duped by this kind of nonsense rhetoric the Europeans and the Russians are not buying this line and thus are firmly opposed to any military resolution to this longstanding conflict.
On the other hand, the Iraqi government well and truly realises the implications of its refusal to allow the UN inspectors back into Iraq and is not troubled by it, on the contrary, it is banking on it. This might sound absurd to anyone with no prior knowledge of the region, however, what a lot of you don't realise is that Saddam has a history of exterminating tens of thousands of his own people and ruthlessly crushing any opposition to his Al B'aath Party's dictatorship. Moreover, with Iraq now resuming ties with the majority of their arab neighbours and many foreign nations the scene in the middle east is now starting to return to its pre Gulf War quasi-stable shape. Consequently, the unprovoked imminent strike on Iraq will surely cause the whole region to destabilise and throw it once more unto turmoil. Saddam Husein realises very well that such a move by the Bush administration will only strengthen his position and earn him the sympathy of the rest of the arab and international community; such a move will ensure that he will be the darling of the arab world once more, and if it means the death of hundreds of thousands of his fellow countrymen then so be it, c'est l vie!

Currently, the way that the people are wasting away from starvation and disease, well, I doubt there's gonna be anything left to carpet bomb in Baghdad...let alone invade...but then there's still the massive oil reserves...sad, isn't it?? :(
Ever wonder when the middle eastern countries will unite in opposition to the US?
This kind of has a link with drilling for oil in Alaska. If we are at war with the Middle East and therefore can not get their oil, we can rely on Alaska (well, maybe). It's all just too coincidental.......

The US' problem is that it doesn't want to run down it's reserves untill the Mid East is almost depleted. It's been stated in the past, and I can only assume it still applies, that the plan is to buy oil at any cost so as to have the last bountiful oil sources on earth in North America.
This sort of explains the touchyness about Kuwaits supply being retaken by Iraq (that particularly rich area always belonged to them untill the West propped up a puppet regime in 'Kuwait' and made special oil deals with them). Anyway, I think Saddam is a madman, but stability under him is largely preferable to a genocide with new warlords.

I forgot to add that a war against Iraq will not only devastate economies throughout the region (poor countries like Jordan rely on the trade with Iraq) but it will be a symbolic gesture to show that their oppinions on the regional situations are not appreciated. They've all come out against this, after all.
