The Republican governer of New York State is proposing to sell a near-700 mile strip of highway to a private investor. What is next?? Privatization of the ozone??? (that might be a better idea)

Actually a Russian buisnessman owns the Ozone layer and has the ability to sue whoever pollutes it. NO joke I read the article a while ago. He sent a letter into the UN claiming it as his.

The UN, particularly certain countries within it has a means by which to claim ownership of "new territory" so to speak. The guy who sells those moon deeds and mars deeds for plots of land on the moon and mars actually registered and was awarded ownership of these planets by the UN if I'm not mistaken. I imagine the same can be done with things such as the ozone layer.

The story is true. The lawyer(instead of an businessman) claimed the rights over the clouds(instead of ozone layer), since no one before him ever make such an attempt. He claims he did it to help protect the environment.
But still, it just goes to show u how silly the capitalist mentality is. And THEY called us crazy. LOL

Making the roads private! can you imagine how many toll booths would be along them. It'd cost you hundreds of dollars to get anywhere. <_<
Did the UN accept the guys statement that he owned the clouds or did they just dismiss it straight off? Because really if they did accept it that's madness.

They did accept his plea. Tho i dont think it's up to UN to allow it to happen. Well someone did and now the clouds are his. I cant remember whether he owns all of the clouds or just a few.

This sounds like a good idea actually. It's been proven the private sector always can do something more effeciently than the government.

Effectively for who? For the people who will make profit out of it, or the people who will use it? Besides, the ideal way would be for the workers to decide what they do on the roads, afterall - they are the ones who know what needs doing.

Clearly for the ones making the profit since they'd try and get as much money from it as they could. And eventhough the roads would need to be maintained it wouldn't be that often so a large profit would be made. Exploitation exploitation exploitiation. Let the state run the roads just look at what happend when the railways were privatised in the UK problem after problem ocured.
