Is this a new song? Or am I just behind the times? If you've heard it what do you think? I thought it was funny as hell the first time I've heard it, but a tad repetitive  .

That song has been around for awhile now. It came out sometime between 1996-1999.

yeah, it came around shortly after the downward spiral.. maybe a year or two. It's not bad.. I prefer a lot of his instrumental stuff though (reznor, not bowie).

speaking of reznor, wasn't a new NIN album supposed to come out for like two years now?

Why even call it NIN, the band should just be called Reznor, a la John Bon Jovi.

considering that NIN only exists on tour, you're right.

I was talking about NIN apart from that song, really. I'm assuming Little Fred was as well.

New album is finished, it should be out soon enough.

it's about damned time. Hopefully it's better composed than the last album.

Yeah I downloaded it under the Artist David Bowie and it came up Nine Inch Nails.

It came out years ago huh? I guess I'm just behind the times...that's what I get for being a history major I guess  .

I remember watching MTV as little girl and seeing this video. I thought it was the coolest song on the planet.

So did NIN cover it?

david bowie and trent reznor worked together on the song.. if you listen to it, you can pick out the parts that were obviously influenced by bowie and reznor, respectively. Interesting mix, at least.

You're making me feel old :(

The fragile actually had some decent compositions.. I'm especially fond of "Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing you, finally" (a fool's devotion / swallowed up in empty space / the tears of regret / frozen to the side of his face / the smell of sunshine / i remember sometimes) but as an album, it was shit, and not the least bit cohesive. It was like he just took a bunch of random songs and threw them all together. Songs were okay, but the work just plain lacked direction.

It was released in the mid nineties.. it was just a joke though, I'm really not that old. :D I'm just now coming to terms with the fact that I'm no longer considered terribly young.. that is, unless it's concerning the fact that I'm a communist, in which case people say things like "the passion of youth" blah blah blah. It kinda irks me, especially when they find out how old I actually am.

Bowie has a great early album, Alladin Sane, with a song about the Detroit riots in the sixties (forgot the name of the song, but it has the word 'Detroit' in it). Very situationist, Bowie. Cut and paste lyrics. 'Fashion' even sounded to me like 'fascism' for the longest time.

A great song, I’ve always been a fan of both Bowie and Reznor though. There are actually several versions of this particular song though, some of which Bowie did with a different partner (like, ew, Ice Cube). The longer one with Reznor is by far the best though and certainly worth a listen. After all, God is an American :P
