Many of you in the U.S. probably read the news today that Bush made a speech last night about him and his cronies getting their greedy little paws on the bank accounts of social security which is the retirement and disability fund for the entire nation that all workers depend upon along with medicare to survive after we are no longer able to work.

They want to plug the loot into their companies and pockets via "investment" in their companies, where the money can essentially disappear. Although this idea was thrown around in the 90's in the "boom" years, now would be suicidal with the market up and down except for "certain" blue chip companies involved in Bush's other schemes :D . So basically the money would go to his friends.

What do people think about this, sorry, no reference, most of articles on it are too biased and ridiculous too read.

social security was screwed from the start.
When you pay into social security it dose not go into an acount with your name in it instead it gose into a general fund so you end up paying for the people getting the benifits now. What Bush is proposing is that you get to put some of your hard earned money into your own private account.
I don't know about you guys but I would rather just ditch social security all together.
But thats just me.

I hope they don't according to what I have heard his reasoning is, remember that he always says the opposite of what he means, is that he is going to "save" social security by reducing funds to people under 55. He needs the other money to finance the war, ie.) Give the money to Haliburton

We should feel honored he is spending the whole week dismantling it, that we should be so priveleged as to demand a week of his time

I don't see the dismantling of social security as a good thing because too many people who can't fight back in a revolution depend upon it. Older people may vote, but they don't fight in the streets. It's picking on the elderly, it's sick.

The United States has no right, no desire, and no intention to impose our form of government on anyone else.

Utter bullshit...

That is one of the main differences between us and our enemies. They seek to impose and expand an empire of oppression, in which a tiny group of brutal, self-appointed rulers control every aspect of every life.

Is it just me or is the U.S government really suffering from short term memory, geeeeezzzzz....................

Our aim is to build and preserve a community of free and independent nations, with governments that answer to their citizens, and reflect their own cultures.

This phrase completely contradicts the first part of the of this aspect of the speech. And if it were the case of wanting independent nations, the U.S. would keep its influence at home and stop bullying other nations.....

And because democracies respect their own people and their neighbours, the advance of freedom will lead to peace.

Another yummy bite of the bullshit pie graciously served to you, tax payers and capitalist slaves, by our good, loyal and trustworthy friend George Dubya...

All I heard tonight from that blundering idiot was words, the same old meaningless words he's been thrusting down our brains for the past four years...

Could someone who lives in the all mighty United States PLEASE tell me what the fuck happened with the people of that nation, how could they appear reasonably smart and then prove such disapointing failure by reelecting such a dangerous man ???!!!!!

And for the benefit of our good comrade Scottizzle, and for whomever who may have missed this unbelievable tidal wave of Bullshit, here is a transcript URL from the BBC of the whole dangerous lies that were bestowed upon the world tonight in Washington;

The election is a joke, between the machines by Diebold and disenfranchisement of African Americans in the South who made up a substantial part of the population in the "Red States" and are born democrats there is obvious fallacies. Most of the hispanics who voted for Bush did so because the Catholic bishops said if they didn't they would burn in hell for supporting abortion.

As far as social security, the Move On network has started a new subsidary called http://www.ourfuture.org
which released this statement after speaking with officers in social security offices:

President Bush talks about Social Security as if the sky is falling! But the facts tell a different story. According to the Social Security Administration itself, the system can meet 100% of its obligations for the next 37 years with no changes at all. And beyond that, there are less risky things we can do to shore up Social Security.

Consider that the President himself only pays Social Security taxes on less than a quarter of his income. That's right, the law today exempts every penny of income over $90,000 from Social Security taxes. If we raised that ceiling to the President's salary, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Privatization is the ONLY Social Security crisis. The President's plan would cut benefits and funnel about a third of all Social Security money into Wall Street. Without Social Security, 40 percent of seniors today would live in poverty. The Bush privatization scam would cheat a 20 year old worker out of $152,000 in Social Security checks over his or her retirement.[www.ourfuture.org]

What's going to happen when the Social Security system fails, and there are more retirees taking out than there are workers putting in? How will "all the workers" who "depend upon social security" survive? Do you actually have a plan to save Social Security, or are you just defending socialism on principle?

They want to plug the loot into their companies and pockets via "investment" in their companies, where the money can essentially disappear. Actually, the nature of investment is that the ones who profit the most are the investors, not the companies which are invested in. The only way a company even makes money by opening itself up to the market is by receving a substantial number of investments. Therefore, retirees will have more money by investing the money that would have gone to Social Security, than by leaving that money in the (failing) Social Security program.

What do people think about this, sorry, no reference, most of articles on it are too biased and ridiculous too read.

I think it's great that people will have the option to opt out of a failing system.

Most of the hispanics who voted for Bush did so because the Catholic bishops said if they didn't they would burn in hell for supporting abortion.

Actually, most of the hispanics who voted for Bush did so because a) they are rabidly anti-Democrat (you can thank the Bay of Pigs for that) and b) they have experienced first hand what big governments do to people.

Take my neighbor, for instance; he was born in Cuba (now how many of you have ever been there?), and has suffered the evils of Communism and big government. He wouldn't be caught dead voting Democrat.

The failing social security system has been giving stable returns people can depend upon for 50 years, meanwhile just a few years ago large segments of the stock exchange crashed.

Who exactly are the largest investors and on the board of most of the blue chip stocks, impoverished elderly people now are going to play the stocks with their life support system which plays for their mediciene, rent, and food.

I remember an elderly man and his wife in Florida, she was stressed every day because he would play the stocks with their retirement, you would have this happen to the entire country?

According to Social Security officials it will last another 37 years before needing money from tax revenues, the certain far right Republicans are using their control of the Senate and presidency to damage it and get their hands on the money that is still in there. When you consider the billions of dollars of tax money spent on the war on Iraq a little moeny out of taxes towards the social welfare of it's citizens would be money well spent.

I am not stating this out defense of socialism, I'm stating it based on the rights of the community to sustain itself versus the wasting of money on foreign wars. Socialism is simply a system which honors the community over the market.

As far as your ideas about most hispanics being Republicans what a bunch of bull, New Mexico is 80% hispanic and is traditionally Democratic, but the object here is not to endorse either of those camps and talk about socialist and communist ideas not sectarism between the two U.S. parties.

As far as ex-Cuban and Iranian nationals, some are Right wing particularly ones who owned a lot of land or property and lost it, in a way they are sore losers. I also know Cubans who are very happy for the medical and other education they got in Cuba and return to be with their family every chance they get, and miss certain parts of the Communist system, and are not entirely happy with the the hyper capitalism of America for the way it treats those who are less fortunate.

Any time you speak in absolutes you are bound to be wrong.
