Zingu: I'd have to go with the Luxembourg/Pannekoek/Mattick tradition. I'm also sympathetic to Marcuse. I'm also currently trying to tie Marx and Bataille together as strange as it may sound. I think there may be something to it to explain irrationality that sometimes pops up within society. Bataille notes that modern capitalist ideology is different than the traditional religious ideology of the past. Bourgeois society does not allow controlled transgression that was found in older societies. I think this may have something to do with the rather savage and cruel nature that we have seen manifested in industrial societies from America to Nazi Germany to Stalin's Russia.
