In describing the course of the revolution, Engels wrote:
"(x) Destruction of all unhealthy and jerry-built dwellings in urban districts."
What did he mean by this?

I'm guessing he's talking about shacks and places that should probably have been condemned ages ago. No person with dignity should be living in a place that could lead to their death.
EDIT: WOw, I pulled a Bushism, originally said Dignitude. His influence is inescapable!

yeh didn't he also mean housing made of poor materials not shacks but just abit more advanced. Housing for the masses.

Yes but thats not what i meant i don't mean condemmed housing just poor housing such as the council estates in the Uk. Engels would want the poulation to live inwell made housing so the working class could function as a whole more effectively.

In the housing question it’s pretty clear how appalled Engles was at the conditions where the workers lived and especially the planed obsolescence of housing. (Designed so it falls apart in 40 years… some buildings are still designed that way).
