Maybe i'm blind but I have not seen any plans reguarding the upcoming WTO meeting in washington DC this April (16th). In fact I have only seen one 'call to action'. It's almost as if the anti war movement has burned everyone out and they no longer want to raise their fist to these terrible organizations. Lets start organizing now. www.globalizethis.org (http://www.globalizethis.org)

I didn't even know something is happening in DC this year on April.

Five years ago, on April 16th, there was a huge-ass anti-globalization demo in DC. Maybe you're thinking of that one?

www.globalizethis.org (http://www.globalizethis.org) They are saying there is going to be the WTO meeting in washington april 16th 2005 which means this year, am I being retarded and missing something..I wrote to infoshop about the lack of organizing for this demonstration and they said it was def on their calendar and they will post an 'alert' or something. I suggest we start looking into this.

A Better World Is Not Just Possible, But is Under Construction!

Call for a Mass Mobilization April 15-17th, 2005 During the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund

The April 16, 2005 meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank will represent the five year anniversary of the first major demonstrations against these institutions in the United States. Again we will gather in the streets of D.C. on A16 to show that our resistance to these institutions and their greed only grows stronger. A16 will once more be the day we show that our dreams for a better world are not only possible, but under construction at this moment, in all corners of the globe- and the IMF and World Bank, with all their efforts to demolish these dreams and actions, can never stop us.

Someone atleast comfirm that it's a little bit confusing or start organizing.

Post-edit: I would just like to let anyone that reads this thread know that i'm not shaking in my computer chair slamming into my desk and foaming at the mouth, multiple sources are listing the WTO meeting in Washington this April 15th-20th 2005. I am not insane i'm just worried that people are asking me what i'm talking about when I see this as an urgent matter. Maybe i'm on the wrong forums to be posting this, but as the 'revolutionary left' I think you all would be interested. Just trying to help and raise awarness. Thank you. god i'm an idiot...

Shit. You're right. My bad. Sorry about that. I'm really surprised I havn't heard abou this. Very odd. We actually did a unit on the WTO et al. in my Geo class. Damn. I doubt I'll be able to get down there, but if anybody needs help with organizing, I'd be more than happy to help.

you could contact any local unions in your area, ask them if they are familure with the WTO and their policies reguarding exploitation of workers around the globe, ask them if they want to show solidarity for the working class. Nothing to extreme, and no labels such as 'communism' 'anarchism' ect... you can start posting like crazy on the internet, no details, just awareness posts to get people thinking and interested in going. If activism is going to succeed, we need to stop relying on major groups and their affinities,...N30 1999 was great because there was such a diverse group of ideologies. This wasn't just great because it allowed for a massive demonstration, it showed that the communties around the country cared. Someone some where listend to something they heard, read, or saw and pursued it until they learned something then decided to take action in this case against it. Lets not let the WTO go through DC without some significant sign of defiance. Lets keep this thread going for a while, stop viewing it and post something, I can only assume the views of the thread mean someone saw and is now planning but feedback is essential.

Apparently a source somewhere was wrong and it is 'just' the IMF/WB not the 'WTO' meeting which dosn't take any significance away from it. Imagine being one of the many ravaged countries and looking at these meetings in the US and seeing no resistance of any kind.
