US dollar is falling, it became lower than Euro. Dow Jones index also became low, like it wasn't for the last 4 years. us economy stepped into new recession period, which seems to be pretty serious.
It is interesting, but each time US fells into crisis it enters a new war. US government consider the war as the method of getting out of the economical crisis.
Remember the Gulf War, Yugoslavia amd the late one - Afghanistan. us economy was in recession period during all these wars.
What will be next? Iraq, Iran or Cuba? Who knows.....
Bush and the White House are waiting for the good reason for the start of the millitary actions.
You are one clever dude! I read a chapter of a book about this and I thinks you are pretty intelligent to spot that.
Economists regard war production (building planes, tanks, ships) in the same light as building industrial machinery and then proceeding to drop it into the ocean (ie. leaving it to lie in a base). This is a sort of artificial stimulation of the economy because employment will most probably go up because of the increased need for production yet this will not help the economy in the long term because of the eventual rising maintainence costs and the fact that war machines only help open markets, not make money.
But, thankfully, this kind of dishonest government allocation of funds (and they know exactly what you and I are talking about and still continue to do it) cannot go on forever and the markets eventually go back to how they were before the stimulation. However, the markets are known to be in a downward spiral and have been in it since the 1970's as most honest economists will tell you and many savvy politicians, so there is hope for us yet. Let us only hope that the US don't try and get out of this current crisis by staging a war in Iraq that could kill many civilians.

Yesterday, according to CNN (the bottom scroll bar), U.S. military informed Turkey that military confrontation with Iraq is very possible in the very near future..

The first time when US officials realized that this kind of "getting out of the crisis" strategy really works was during and after the WW2.

Why are they informing Turkey so early?
This confirms that the US is a country that thrives on war and those that live by War shall die by war

Capitalism works on a cyclic economy system right? If you time the outbreak of war correctly you can avoid a full scale recession, or at times, depression even by increasing military production. A long scale war like "the war on terrorism" will ensure a consistent supply of military equipment, therefore a huge boost to the economy. If it goes on long enough, it will keep Bush in for a couple of terms.
The US never used to do this, not until world war two, like you say. They used to mind their own business, be very insular, until they realised how good war was for the economy.
Basically the US will do anything for their precious economy. They have killed millions to keep it afloat.

Bush is just going to continue to kill the innocent civilians till he get his full and gets the us to full power! the more bombs the more money they need the more money they need the more they take from the tax payers! hell we dont even know if they are bombing out there for all we know bush could be using it for his own greed.

not only does the production of war materials stimulat their economy, but they usually attack countries that will allow them to profit from the local oil. So the u.s. profits in all kindsa ways from macking war. its disgusting, but hte questrion remains what do we do about it?
FOF- That indeed is the question. What do we do about it?
We can protest. We can become active in politics and tell these fools in office that we aren't buying their shit. We can start talking to people about what is really going on in the world. We can educate ourselves.
OR WE CAN FIGHT..........
