Anybody heard this album?

Its a concept album about a guy that is manipulated into doing a murder, but the setting of the story is about a revolution and overthrowing the government. It has a lot of political statements.

Songs like: Revolution Calling, Speak and Spreading the Disease are the most obvious ones with the message and also, the music is quite good ;)

I haven't checked it out but they say it's a prog metal masterpiece so I'll eventually try to listen it, since I heard a song by them and it wasn't bad...or at least it was better than Dream Theater

You know Dream Theater's Scenes from a Memory?...its such a rip off from this album. The whole structure of telling the story is exactly like Operation:Mindcrime.

Well, i would not call the album prog-rock...Most of the album's songs are definetaly shorter and more structured than prog-rock. There are a few songs that have a progressive feel to them though.

I heard Queensryche recently described by singer Geoff Tate as really experimental, hard music or something like that. I would consider that a fair description. I am a fan of especially early Queensryche, as their post-Nirvana work sadly tried to assimilate itself into a grunge and post-grunge rock world that they are musically incompatible with.

Operation: Mindcrime is a phenomenal album. Many of the early songs, dealing with the mindset of the protagonist as he involves himself with the self-described revolutionaries, have great political lyrics.

I used to trust the media to tell me the truth (Tell us the truth!)
But now I see the payoffs everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?
