for those of you who don´t know, i am in brazil and in 2 days, the World Social Forum (http://www.forumsocialmundial.org.br) begins. and i missed the deadline for the tickets! it´s one of the world´s biggest, if not the biggest, progressive political gathering. workshops, speakers, my dad has been, says it´s great. i´m going to call someone tomorrow and see if he can get me tickets. he´s up there already. let´s hope it works...

fuck all the circumstances! i have a bus ticket and in an hour, i´m leaving. it should be great and interesting once i figure out where i´m going to sleep. and i´ll have to lie and say i´m not american. or else someone might decide to throw down.

alright, i am here in porto allegre. it is my fourth day. no problems at all, found a tent to stay in, hanging out with folks from my bus, unfortunately missed some lectures i wanted to see but i did see josé saramago and eduardo galeano today. was going to see noam chomsky too but he decided not to come. almost saw aleida guevara and sebastião salgado but the people i was going to go with took too long and we got lost on the way there anyway. disappointingly, at the violence against women and children and child trafficking lectures, it was a predominantly female audience. don't men fucking care about that sort of stuff??
