Why do some, or most of you hate Mcdonalds and Taco bell and such. I know that Adidas, Gap, Nike and lots more use sweatshops. I'm just curious about the reason.

Mc Donalds is a show piece for capitalism. They have stores everywhere.Poor wages, and like it costs like 3p to make a burger but they charge u for like £1.50 or watever the rate is.All companies should be hated if they live off the poor wages they give their wokers and poor service to their customers and also for caring more for shareholders.
Go to http://www.mcspotlight.org/.
That should explain it.
McDonalds destroys the enviroment and exploits workers. Taco Bell lost a lawsuit againt it (http://www.entrepreneur.com/Your_Business/YB_SegArticle/0,4621,287886,00.html) because it didn't pay workers for all the time they worked.
Any other questions?

The food sucks. But seriously, they exploit the workers and the few at the top get rich off it. The fields where the ingrediants are farmed are like open air sweatshops, and the slaughterhouses are like hell on earth. I've been in one, and i still have nightmares.

..true...all very true! Exploitation is the name of the game with these companies.

McDonalds is a prime example of US corporate imperialism and also assimilation (McDonalds reflect the 'American way' of life, in other words, getting fat).

There are so many reasons they are hated, McDonald's being my personal enemy number 1!!
They are responsible for some deforesation, their happy meal toys are made in sweatshops, their average employees are treated like crap, but the thing that makes most people like me hate them so much is their sick fucking lies. Lie after Lie comes out the corporate McMouth.
- They had a scheme some years back where they promised to recycle stuff put in a special recycle bin in their stores...guess what, it wasn't! Nope, it was thrown out with the rest of the rubbish and put in landfill sites.
- The most despicable is lying about what their fries are cooked in, their WAS beef extract in the fluid, which McDonald's denied for years, until their lies were exposed. You have to wonder what Hindi people felt like who had eaten their fries staying clear of the beefburgers. The Cow is so sacred to them it is like eating your own mother!
That's just two, but i could go on all day. And as for Taco Bell, I believe they were embroiled with some major exploiative labour thing last year.

Yes -- can I get stoned with a clean conscience? I can see that my Quarter Pounder is morally unclean, but how about the grass that I bought from my neighborhood retailer? Please tell me how I can get baked with the blessings of Mr. Guevara and mother earth. Also, where can I get revolution-approved gas for my car. I don't want to support The Man or anything. Thanks.
Vodun,
I'm thinking that perhaps you got stoned before you replied.

Vodun,
There's no such thing.
Why would you need anyone's approval to do something you want to do?

Brian- i agre Burger king is 10x better, At mcdonalds, there is so much bread that finding the meat patty is next to impossible.
However, taco bell is the greatest fast food place on the planet. I eat there as many times as possible. This week alone i ate there twice. the food is delicious. I know about the lawsuits, but the Quesadillas are like drugs for me, no matter what, i am hooked.
And Fast food places are the perfect examples of exploitation of workers. 5 dollars an hour doesnt keep the average person alive.

i personally dont choose to purchase any thing from a place where workers are exploited and rights are violated.i have also worked at a mcdonalds briefly and its not only cruel and unjust, but also quite disgusting. fast food joints are the poster children for american capitalism. They exploit those who work hard and give to those who are rich and *fat*(i wonder why thier fat eh?)

Yep. Minimum wage is just enough that people don't die.
But it doesn't keep people alive.
Just stuck somewhere in between....

I don't like american culture in general.
No trains or monorails; cars suck, in 100 years they hopefully wont exist (as they do now that is).
McDonalds to keep you fat, stores spread out for car use, joining a club to keep you fit. Thats the capitalist culture and its very unhealthy (for the person that is; its healthy for the economy).
When I lived in the USSR we didn't have cars, we had monorails, trolleys, and busses everywhere; for a long trip you take a train or a plane. There was no mcdonalds; and people walked on the streets like they are supposed to. No fat people either, for these reasons.
