You know . . . I think I'll just keep sticking Zinn and Parenti (Sp?) on my music mixes. I mean, I'd rather stick on something that my friends of all parties and strains, not just Maoists, can dig. It's kinda vague too - in terms of spoken word, I like to pound people with facts. If I want energizin' rhetoric, I'll probably put on CONFLICT.

Use Mumia Abu-Jamal, he pulls up some kickass facts from trials and such on this spoken word CD "All things Censored"

Not bad...seems a little full of hismelf though. Its like he thinks all we need is one big revolution, he doesn't seem too in the know but a bit "pop communist" as in the current "trend" of communism being "cool". Not bad though, doubt I'll actually download it though (I listened to it on the net).

Well, certainly you should put on the political discussions and arguments you support.

But le'ts not pretend that people like Zinn and Parenti don't have their own trends and lines. Howard Zinn, a respected people's historian, is a radical democrat -- whose view is that mass movements transform societies (often with or without revolution).

Michael Parenti puts forward the views of the revisionist CPUSA -- on the issues he discusses (class analysis, nature of ruling class, analysis of fascism, analysis of imperialism etc. etc.) represent a particular set of views and ideology.

So, my point is two fold: put forward the lines you agree with (evenwhile you dig deeper to understand what is true and what is not).

But don't have the illusion that Bob Avakian has a political line (which he does!!) but that someone line Parenti doesn't (since he has a political line very sharply opposed to Bob Avakian, and -- i believe -- opposed to reality.)
