I have been watching a lot of Spanish news and it seems the Peruvian government just lose more and more support. I think Toledo's popularity is at 9% now. Has the left taken advantage of this situation?

I think they might. I know that there is at least one Peruvian here, but from what I've heard the Sendero Luminoso recently performed their first major operation for a decade.

I dont know if we could call Sendero Luminoso a good sollution for Peru...
There should be a new government, but the conventional ways of government change either involve voting for just another corrupt dick or having some soldier take over and take everything valuable from the country

Oh no, from what I've heard (from interviews with Peruvians, not news reports) the Sendero Luminoso are not a very nice group, and I don't support guerilla warfare anyway. I'm just saying that the fact that the Shining Path may be on the rise again shows that the left is becoming more popular again.

The left IS becoming more influencial over here, but the leading leftwing party, APRA, is laying low for a while cause its leader, Alan Garcia was caught on film cicking some guy's ass. But more people are starting to read La Republica, which is a leftwing newspaper. :) But then again, i dont see a MAJOR leftwing advantage here.
And im glad you guys dissagree with the Sendero...cause they really sucked...two of my uncles were killed by those fuckers :(

I'm sure the United States is attaching it's string through Colombia as we speak. It'll be the same shit as always.

I personally dont think we should have Alan Garcia back, not that Im right wing or anything, but the whole "I stole all that money etc because I was young and inexperiences" just doesnt convince me to now want that guy as president of Peru...but ok Im not allowed to vote because I dont have Peruvian citizenship so yah...

Lima, Jan 21 (Prensa Latina) Peru"s National Election Jury announced the completion of the scrutiny process and release of the credentials to the first leftist political force registered for the 2006 elections, Nueva Izquierda Movement (MNI).
The MNI has elected veteran leader Alberto Moreno, general secretary of the Communist Party of Peru, Patria Roja, as its president. So far 11 organizations have been registered.
Both forces integrate the Coordinadora Nacional de Izquierda and Partidos Progresistas along with Partido Union por el Peru, the Communist Party, Worker"s Socialist Party, Frente Obrero, Campesino, Estudiantil y Popular, and Comite Malpica.
The Democratico Descentralista Party has been rejected because it does not meet the minimum membership (128,000), a decision protested by leftist Legislator Javier Diez Canseco. The government and opposition parties are in the final admission process.
The deadline to register for the April 2006 elections closes February 1st.

Why do I have this feeling that in the next ellections (the ones after 2006) Alberto Fujimori will return saying the same stuff Garcia does..."I was young and didnt know that killing lots of people was wrong...oh yeah Im REAL Peruvian...no Japanese here"
But ok this MNI might be interesting...

I know this is a bit irrelevant. But i thought i would post part of a song by Immortal Technique, a Peruvian rapper , called "Peruvian Cocaine".
Coca field Worker:Im on the border with Bolivia, working for pennies
Treated like a slave, the coke fields have to be ready
The spirit of my people is starving, broken and sweaty
Dreaming about revolution looking at my machete
But the workload is too heavy to rise up in arms
And if I ran away, I know they'd probably murder my moms
So I pray to Jésu Christo when I go to the mission
Process the cocaine, paced and play my position
Field Boss: Ok, listen while I'm out there, just give me my product
Before we chop off ya hands for worker's misconduct
I got the power to shoot a copper, and not get charged
And it would be sad to see your family in front of a firing squad
So to feed your kids, I need these bricks
40 tons in total, let me test it, indeed I *sniff*
Shit, this is good, pass me a tissue
And don't worry about them, I paid off the officials
Peruvian politician: Yo, it don't come as a challenge, I'm the son of some of the foulest
Elected by my people...the only one on the ballot
Born and bred to consult with feds, I laugh at fate
And assassinate my predecessor to have his place
In a third-world fascist state, lock the nation
With 90% of the wealth in 10% of the population
The Central Intelligence Agency takes weight faithfully
The finest type of China white and cocaine you'll see
