Arafat - My disagreement with Said

Arafat maybe self-serving but this is a time when Palestinian democracy is on the ropes. The US/Isreali lobby is out to impose itself and while there is no credible and clear opposition to Arafat. It is our duty to rally round him at this time. What else? Does Isreal and America want Hamas to step in? What does that mean for peace? The PLO peace negotiaters have to be strengthened not weakened.

I agree completely. Now is the time that we must support the SECULAR forces in Plaestine. The struggle has a great secular tradition, and we must not support fundamentalists who abuse the democratic rights of the great mass of Palestinians by acting unilaterrally without reference to the wishes of any of the elected palestinian officials
