His remains will be moved from Jamaica to the "birth-place" of Rastafarianism.

What a bunch of fucking shit.

Remember a few months ago when I called Rita Marley a **** and everyone asked why ? This kind of crap is why.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this is a publicity stunt ?

This is ridiculous, isn't it?

Sounds like a big publicity stunt to me too Rubble. As someone on another board said, at the ceremony "no doubt Rita will unveil the new Bob Marley sneakers alongside a hyper-deluxe version of Legend".

Anyway, I heard through someone else on that other board that Rita was apparently "quoted out of context", so maybe this isn't going ahead. I'm not sure.

Ugh, you know, I can understand mass-exodus, but to have one's remains buried there?

Bob was Jamaican...as authentic Jamaican as you get. He was the Caribbean's hope...he gave us life in a world that was dominated by external forces controlling us. I doubt even Bob would want this.

Sigh...what next? Bob's dreadlocks on ebay?

i don’t understand why every ones freaking out  .. considering Ethiopia’s one of the " holiest " lands in his religion I don’t think he would object to it at all

exactly. Bob is a big symbol throughout the world, but especially in Jamaica.

Bob wouldn't just die. He wouldn't accept it. He is where he wants to be...his remains should stay where he lived.

She's not going to do it. She's claiming her words were taken out of context or something.

I hope her words were taken "out of context", otherwise she is a complete sellout.

Why would socialsts care whether a body was buried within one imaginary border or another?Didn't Marx say "The workers have no homeland"?

If you read an interview with Marley or most of his quotes, everything is Jah this, Jah that. Rastafari, etc. He was truly emmersed (sp?) in his religion, and I don't think he would object to an Ethiopian burial. I think even Marley would consider himself more of an "African" than a Jamaican.

Maybe so but he was buried along time ago and so should stay where he is. Moving him now would be just disrespectful it would be like digging Marx up and burying him back in Germany, and noone would stand for that. It's utterly disrespectful and pointless, leave him where he is.

that sums it up. Ras belifes is that all blacks are African first. I dont think it is a publicity stunt becouse Rita is not getting much out of it if she was to do it, but it is not true anyway.

Exactly, Mufasa.

I just really think that Marley would be honored in a move to Ethiopia, rather than disrespected. I can imagine many Jamaicans wouldn't be too happy, because it's kind of like they're losing some history.

Those crazy Rastafarians scare me to death, The Cult of Haileslasie and Company is the most misguided concept embraced by some stupid people who are either under the influence of drugs or hash. Haileslasie is a brutal killer ... I don't see why I would worship him.

P.S... Don't tell Raisa I said this, she will think I was talking about her cat, and will send bride of chucky to haunt me in my dreams.

Neither Bob or Rita are Marxists.
Or are you talking to the folks here who object to moving his carcass?
You're right.
On another note, Marxists wouldn't give a crap about where a pile of bones is burried. It really has to do with spirituality, doesn't it?

The importance of where he is buried may be unimportant to a certain philosophy, but it may be very important to Rastas, his fans, Africans, the people of Jamaica, Marley's family, and Marley himself.

As to why we care, we just have too much time on our hands. :)

They should have moved him to Ethiopia when he first died. I believe he would have wanted to be buried in his father land.

Ethiopia is to Bob Marley, what Isreal is to Jewish People. That's why he called it Bob's fatherland.

What the fuck is with all this "I think..." blah blah bullshit?

Why not just leave be, like I'm sure the dude KNEW he was dying; it didn't like drop in unexpectedly one day.

And I'm SURE being as devoted as he was to Ras Tafari that he could have made the call if he wanted to be buried in Ethiopia or not. Obviously he DIDN'T choose to be buried there, so just leave it.
