I was watching Blues Brothers 2000 (which Dan Aykroyd co-wrote) earlier, and in it there's part where Aykroyd's character is talking about the Russian mafia and he says "Those goons are orphan remnants of the post-perestroika Soviet secret police apparatus, which until 1991 carried out it's twisted interpretation of the original well-intentioned Marxist-Leninist doctrine vis-a-vis state security, which was massively corrupted by Lavrenti Beria in the 30s."

There's also a part in Ghostbusters 2 (which he also co-wrote) where his character refers to a bunch of rich kids as "ungrateful little yuppie larva".

I was thinking that he's somewhat sympathetic to the lefties, but what do you all think of him?

He's also Canadian, a lot of us are liberal or left leaning, so perhaps he is somewhat.

Lavrenti Beria? The thirties? He doesnt know much about secret police chiefs, to say the least. Beria was chief from 1938 to 1953. Yezhov and Yagoda were the main chiefs during hte 30s. (belonging to different organizations, however).

Oh come on, Ymir, don't be so paranoid...Pizza Hut is probably a better contender for world domination, than any regular Canadian folk... :)

Dan Aykroyd is a very funny comedian, and he's good in his movies. I never knew he was Canadian...but many Hollywood actors are either border jumping Canadians or British, lol.

What kind of charities has he given to?

It's called Dragnet and it's definitely my favorite Aykroyd movie. BTW, why the hell are there so many ways to spell his name, some of his movie posters have different versions....

I'm not saying I don't like Dan Akroyd, because he's been in a lot of good flicks, but do you all forget that he's in that britney speares movie?!

Well, he has made a few bad choices when it comes to selecting roles. (Coneheads, anyone?)

I liked his cameo in Evolution as the Governor.
