The discussion in the "old school rock" thread about Dylan's voice made me realize a lot of my favorite singers can't sing.Dylan,Tom Waits,Leonard Cohen,Jerry Garcia,Shane Macgowen,Johnny Cash,Willie Nelson all have technically crappy voices but they all have a style that makes them great.Anyone else like singers that can't sing?

Well basically any punk singer (Fat Mike and the singer for Propagandhi come to mind) can't sing for shit, yet are great.

Stza from Leftover Crack, voice is so horse and scratchy it is not technically a good singing voice but he puts much felling into the words that makes him one of the best vocalists of our time.

As far as I'm concerned, Janis Joplin is one of the greatest vocalists period.
Bob Dylan also absolutely owns.

Jimi Hendrix was awful at singing whilst under the influence of god knows what, but his guitar playing kinda' made up for that didn't it? :)

I think iwwobblie is really trying to admit that he's an avid fan of Milli Vanilli

On a reggae tip, I'd have to say Keith Hudson. His voice is shit, but it is just real rootsy and atmospheric. A lot of roots reggae singers can't really sing very well, and just make up for it with passion and soulfulness.

Brian Molko, he has a really wierd voice, very high pitched, and sounds really wierd. Personally I really like it, but other people say they really hate it with a firey passion.
