Hola, I have a philosophy paper I'm writing and I need to know the antithesis to an axiom. For those who don't know, an axiom is a "self evident truth" that is "popularly recognized"...a postulate, if you will. A plain assumtion.

Well the antitehesis to an axiom/assumption/dogmatic assertion in my view would be an idea that is stated with proofs. The only small (this should read BIG) problem to this is how can you prove something? Subjectively it does not seem possible and when we consider the problem of objective knowledge then we run into the problems that Science faces when it wants to assert something as an Objective fact...

Induction seems flawed, Deduction teaches us nothing new, Falsification can never arrive at universal and absolute positive knowledge, and all anti-realist understandings of Science (such as T.S.Kuhn?) deny the existence of Objective knowledge.

I hope that was at least partly useful. Feel free to question me what I have said although I have a feeling that I've probably expressed most of my thoughts 1001 times in these forums.

Your idea intrigues me, if only it could be summed up into a word; however, you have been an invaluable resource. Thanks!
