Can't believe no one has mentioned the manics! i def know there are people on this site who are fans. Perhaps a bit past it now but holy bible era they were brilliant. Definatly worth a listen.
The manics were proffesed working class lefties and Richeys facination with Russia is all over the holy bible. I defy anyone to think of a more politically and socially challenging album that the bible - thats the test ;)

Ohh believe me we have mentioned the manics, repeatedly. I have a little shrine in my album collection where I worship the manics. Hell just look at my avatar.
I was going to go see them live, but everyone else bailed on me, and I didn't want to go on my own.
But yeah, I have all their albums, except their wierd completation of theirearly stuff I saw a tiny back street record shop. I am going to buy it next time I go there. My favorate song is probably Motorcycle emptiness, which is an all time classic. I also like Archives of pain.
The new lifeblood album, is really good, far better than Know your enemy. At first I was not impressed, but its really grown on me. Its like Guiness, at first I hated it, but now its one of my favorates.
I can think of a more politically and challenging album than the holy bible... Generation Terrorists. Every song on that album is in some major way a refeance to society, and it has more tracks than the Holy Bible.

Yep, i would agree with you there still more of a bible fan though. I saw them live in Brighton, were quite simply exceptional.. so good to see all the fans from different eras, GT with their feather boas, or the military look of the holy bible days..
Glad to hear your a fan.. i'm new to this forum and just hadnt seen any real mention of them. :D
PS always good to remind ourselves of great bands ;)

Manic Street Preachers, Man! i love that band. They are the greatest. I never knew anything about them, But then i heard them singing one day in a BBC music program. what was the song? Oh yea "You stole the sun from my Heart". I was like "what da hell? where did these guys came from?" That's when i knew i had to check them out. Now i'm collecting their songs. As it's like a sweet dream to find Rock Albums here (Eritrea, Eastern Africa) I downloaded all their songs, and i'm proud to have it.
My all time favourite song of theirs is Motorcycle empitiness and Found that soul.
They are the best, and i'm glad there are people here who love them.
Man! i don't believe this. I'm really excited. :) :) :) :)
