Wasn't Marx a social scientist? I guess it depends on your definition; I wasn't thinking along those lines either...

Wha?? Not a socialist? He was a scientific socialist (then communist) and maybe a Marxist too ;)

Pythagoras is my favorite scientist. I like Newton and Stephen Hawking because both of them were/are Pythagoreans (in the degree such a term still exists.) I also like Einstein, because he was a socialist. I consider Marx a scientist, so I also like him.

Nope, wrong, he was not among the first scientists, and if anyone told you so and you believed, you have been fooled. There were scientists long before the birth of Jesus.

Isn't political science a pseudo-science?

I do not agree. Though I must admitt that I have a much more narrow definition of science then most. Even more strict than most Althusserians. Iam very anti-nonsense and anti-ideology. All "science" before Galilei was inductive rather then deductive and most in the form of "stories" rather then theories.
ComradeChris
Isn't political science a pseudo-science?
Yes, most of it.

Yes, most of it.
Then wouldn't people's assertions to put Marx as a scientist be incorrect? I also wouldn't consider economic theory to [not] be a true science either.

i think socialism,communism and the political sciences could be treated as sciences
by the defenetion of science
knowing things{which is thesimplest defenetion}

I think it's the science vs. pseudo-science classification debate. I know many people in my university who find it absurd hat they put science following political as the name of a course. In fact, it's kind of interesting that you cannot get a science degree with distinctions in political science; as political science is classified as a humanities subject.

Just because most politics and economics is not scientific, does not mean that all politics and economics is not scientific. It's all about the method, not the subject itself.
There is alot of "nature science" that is not scientific to.
Once again. It is not the subject, but the method that determines if a theory is a scientific theory.
