Mine would probly have to be John Bonham fron led zep. Favorite living drummer would be chad smith from the chilli peppers or brad wilk because some of the licks and origanality he played with rage was mad but not so much audioslave.

i really dont see a difference in drummers, they all could probably play the same. it all would depend on the music it calls for dont you think?

some are more talented than others, and some play better music.

Don't have a favourite drummer.

I heard from some metalheads though that Joey (is that right) from Slipknot won this world drumming competition. They were saying he was the best in the world.

Anyone know anything about this?

Danny Carey (from Tool) is the best drummer in the world, and is generally considered so. He won a prize for best drummer of the year, by Drummer magazine.

I am a drummer.

And also, to the guy who said that drummers are inseperatable, go and die! :P Drummers technique and skills vary a LOT! Especially amongst the better drummers.

I was a drummer as well, until I decided I had better things to do with my time. Though I disagree with that assesment, one of those insanely good jazz drummers is probably the best in the world some one like Buddy Rich. Dan Carey has a huge kit, and plays some really complicated stuff, but I wouldn't like to say he's the best in the world, perhaps best in the rock world...

It burns me to say it but Travis barker from Blink182 is also ridiculously good and equally creative, shame about the rest of the band. As far as randomness goes on the ride and snare then I would say Stewart Copeland. You just just listen to some Police records and then try and recreate his work on the ride and hi hat. I swear the man is a genious.

I put Sean Moore because he has the most diverse style of any drummer in rock, just as the manics are the most diverse band in rock. Listen to Generation terrorist, Holy Bible and then Life Blood. Totally different styles throughout, in order to be that diverse you have to be good. The only think I don't like is he doesnt put in as much complicated stuff as other drummers. Though on some songs he does show ability to play that stuff, but quite often he just plays the same beat throughout with maybe a fill here and there.
