I have a question, I wonder if anyone could tell me what really happened to Mario Monje? The Bolivian ex-communist leader who double crossed che.

I wouldn't say he double-crossed Che, perhaps misled him but definetly did not betray him. As to who killed Che. It was none other than the CIA.

The CIA was repsonsible for capturing him. They say they wanted to keep him alive for interrogationand it was the Bolivian government that ordered his execution.I'm not sure what to believe, he would've have been useful to attempt to interrogate but then again Fidel was arrested at one time too but eventually was let free so maybe they didn't want to take a chance and let the execution take place.

Actually it was definately the CIA that killed him, Felix Rodriguez to be exact. Of course the Bolivian army was working with them so they probably fired some of the shots as well, but that's just a cover.

according to some of his men the USSR china cuba and the bolivian communist party all promised him many things that never came to him so if you want to get technical it was the vary people he fought for that killled him but the man who pulled the trigger was Mario Teran who shot him once in each limb after che said to him "I know you have come to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man" By the way Felix Rodriguez didn't want to kill him but i guess orders are orders. also Mario Teran has pubically denied killing him many times but who are you going to trust him or a group of nuns who who were teachers at the school he was shot in?

People,
I know che wouldn't have died if it wasn't for that traitor Monje, atleast he could have had a fair fight with the pigs.
Monje, I swear, someday if you are still alive, I will kill you!, if you are not, I will dig your grave and will piss on your cadaver.
But, I would want to know where Monje lives, you know, pay him a lil visit

Yes, he was definately mislead by Monje but there was also the peasent woman who told the military of their position and many many other things that went wrong. The blame can't be solely put on Monje though.

yea..........
Bealfan
7th January 2005, 09:31
who is JR?
And one more thing, Che was killed by the Bolivian army, Shot and died, so what, I think the bolivian army was doing what it was ought to do, ,But that Mario MOnje was the traitor who left che to his fate.

I think he was referring to JR from Dallas that old show. But anyways I don't think they did what they shouldv'e done.He was captured and executed. It wouldv'e been different if he was killed in combat.

Yeah, it wasn't Rodriguez. But I remember reading once on some website that the order to execute Che came from LBJ. Never read that claim anywhere else, so I don't believe it. But Rodriguez was CIA, and he was there, and he took Che's watch after he was executed. That's pretty sick, but what do you expect.

What was fidel supposed to do after their raido was broken..They couldn't just send some people into the middle of the jungle when they didn't know where che was.

Fidel and the others gave absolutely no support from the beginning. You may think I'm wrong but I'll trust the men who served with him that survived the massacre.

9th January 2005, 16:46
I'm not saying you're wrong but did he ask for support directly from fidel?Che was doing his own thing.

The radio was really broken and communications were broken between Fidel and him. I also think that Bealfan is right about Monje. Monje was a sack of shit and he betrayed Che. Felix Rodriguez is a sick son of a ***** who deserves to be shot and pissed on. In my opinion, I don't think that Fidel killed him because he is the one who made Che a leyend in Cuba and pictures of Che are everywhere there. Children in school say:"We wil be like Che" for crying out loud!! And also, who the fuck is smn?? I hope it is not another fucked up neo-nazi undercover in our midst. Nazis deserve a bullet in their fucked up brain everytime they say shit like that!!

I know that the radio was cut, but what I was saying was that he got no support from the beginning.
Big Boss
10th January 2005, 20:31
He actually did. Fidel gave him all the materials he needed to make the revolution a reality. Comunications were cutted off and Fidel knew of the death of Che by seeing the fotos taken to Che's corpse in Vallegrande that were everywhere in the world. He did got support from the begining xanthor

Yes he did,
You can accuse Fidel of being anything else, but not as a traitor to Che.

Bealfan,
Jon Anderson's book places Monje in Moscow where he has been in exhile for many years. He interviewed him there two or three times.

From what I understand - and correct me if I'm wrong- Monje was opposed to the the guerilla movement in Bolivia from the outset. If this is so, why should he be deemed a 'traitor' by posters on this board? Not offering support to a cause he disapproved of is not the work of a traitor. I'm sure it was far more complicated than that.

well, he was deemed traitor because he was not collaborating with Che and Fidel. seems he was under the payroll of the Soviets, who were accusing che of being a radical maoist.

The Bolivian mission seemed doomed from the start. Almost suicidal. Can you blame Monje for not wanting any part of it - in his own country, mind you?
