An Irish punk band. Anyone heard of them?

I have, but I much prefer the Pogues (they started it all), Shane MacGowan, Blood or Whiskey, Neck or the Tossers. I find FM to be very formulaic in their songwriting and Dave King's voice is kind of annoying at best. I do like the fact that they have a fiddle player though.

I'm a Floggin' Molly fan. My buddies went to see them at Warped in the summer. I couldn't go. I was grounded.
I'm learning the fiddle. w00t!

Hmm... Pogues I'll have to check them out. I agree that their lyrics are formulaic. It's all about pirates or the oppression of the Irish.

I meant their music was formulaic.
As for the Pogues, no Pogues... no Flogging Molly.
And again I would really suggest you also checkout Shane MacGowan's solo work since he left the Pogues and Blood or Whiskey is another great band to checkout, they run circles around FM as do the Tossers.

Fair enough, I'd still put them above FM though

Well, most bands' music is formulaic, they all have their different styles.

I do love Flogging Molly, I've seen them play twice and listen to them regularly.
However, Celtopunk is correct, they're inspired by the Pogues, who are the Gods of Irish Trad/Punk. I guess that makes FM one of their saints, dunno.
Listen to 'Another Bag of Bricks' by FM and then to the Pogues' 'Turkish Song of the Damned'. You can see where FM got their sound. Also look at how similar the pirate theme of their new album compares to the Pogues album Rum, 'Sodomy and the Lash.'

Also, FM are crap at covering Traditional songs. I love trad Irish music, but FM cover of the Rare Ould Times was poor, unlike the Pogues Dirty Old Towne that was incredible.
Also, the Pogues openly supported groups like the INLA, Shane called Dominic McGlinchey (my namesake) his hero and wrote a song about him, Paddy Public Enemy #1. FM doesn't have the same balls really.

Okay some home work for all you FM fans that say who?? when someone mentions the Pogues. Use your soulseek or whatever you might use or better yet go and buy some Pogues, Red Roses for Me, Rum Sodomy and the Lash, If I Should Fall From Grace With God, Peace & Love or even a greatest hits sort of album.
And Dave King used to sing for a crappy 80's brit spandex metal band called Fastway.

Are you fucking kidding me ? Where can I see some of that ?
But yeah, the Pogues are great. But I don't mind Flogging Molly, I just don't really like their teeny bopper fans.

We forgive you.
And since Urban asked here's what I found on Fastway:
Dave King is the guy in the center with the scarf.

I like Flogging Molly, but I like the Dropkick Murhpys. They really express Irish-american...uh...ness at its finest. My little flag clearly states one of my many mottos, translated from Gaelic: Forever Ireland
