View Full Version : Gore vs. Bush - Who would you vote for?

Currently, Gore is on a campaign, which criticizes the administration's execution of the war on terrorism. In addition to his attacks on the sitting president, there have been many indications that he will take another bid for the presidency. Shaving his beard was a tell tale sign that he has done enough hob knobbing with the little people and is positioning himself to get serious on the campaign trail. If elections were held today would you vote for Bush or Gore? If you hate both choices, who would you like as a candidate? Please give explanations and restrict this discussion to people would have a legal right to vote in the U.S. (citizens, non-felons, and people over the age of eighteen).

I think Gore should run with Ralph Nader as his vice president because:
1. Green party votes will give gore a little desperatlely needed help
2. All the moderate democrats that would have been turned off by Nader's views and gone to the the right have mostly already gone to the right because they believe this war on terror horseshit and/or they think Bush is a good leader. Also, any independants will definitly be voting for Bush, I don't see any chance for Gore to get registered independant votes (unless they are women and he does enough ass kisssing with the women organizations)
3. Nader will definitly get the Union support
4. If gore moves a little more to the left, then they just might be able to get the underground parties with somewhat large followings (CPUSA, democratic socialist, etc.)
Another thing that might help Gore is if the senate can somehow get Bush to sign a bill that raises taxes (even if it is just a tiny bit) and then start a media buzz about it and cause some sort of rift in the far right-wingers who hate taxes (maybe cause some republicans to vote Libertarian)

i wouldnt vote for either.. unless drastic chages occured in their policies, which isnt going to happen. Red Senate's fantasy of Gores turn to the left and adoption of Ralph Nader is good on a minimal level but is completly unrealistic. I see no need to vote for the lesser of the two evils. I dont want either of them.
BUT if i HAD to chose between Bush and Gore, i would vote for Gore because he seems to see the war on terror as a negative aspect of this countries international agenda. Like i said before, i wouldnt vote for either..
Gore or Bush??? Is there that big a difference??!!!
Both are assholes. Both believe in this disgusting display called "the war on terror." Gore is a boring idiot whose views change with the tide. It really doesn't matter....I guess I'd vote for Nader.......but I live in Massachussetts and regardless of my vote, the state will go Democratic....

Bush and Gore are too alike to make much of a difference with who's president. Having Ralph Nader join the Democrats is stupid. It eliminates the chances of having any noticeable Socialist-Environmental parties in the U$.
But Because of the screwed up and biased election system in the U$, it makes sense that people have no faith in the green party.

I didn't mean have Nader become a democrat, just run on the ticket with gore. He would still retain his green party status and if he did become vice president he could set the senates agenda to deal with whatever enviromental issues he wanted. It would also give Nader some real actual power in washington to secure money for his green party and get his views into the mainstream (he would be able to get on whatever news program he wanted and talk about whatever he wanted if he was the vice president).
Also, Gore won't have to worry about losing the jewish vote by giving up Lieberman as a running mate because the pro-Israel jews will mostly be voting for Bush since he has come out strongly against Arafat.
Its just an idea to keep Bush from winning. It works out well for both the greens and dems because if nader runs against Gore he only takes votes away from gore and gives the margin to Bush.

Here is your american democracy. Two capitalists are going to campaign for the presidential office.
Can I choose somebody different( for example commie)? And if I do, will it change something?

Revolution hero,
No, you can't change something. Thats how America's two-party system is made to work. Capitalists will argue that in communism you have no choice of government, but in America you only have a choice between two equally bad capitalists.
Other people can run for president, but they cant get national attention (the televised debates) unless they had 5% of the votes last time, and since it is almost impossible to get 5% of the votes without spending millions in advertising, everyone but the democrats and republicans are fucked.

Red senator,
It was already clear to me. I have just asked the rhetorical question

I'd have gone for anyone but Bush or Gore, personally. Heck, if Alf ran for president, I'd probably elect him over either of them, and practically anyone else on the ticket. It's true that they're too much alike- although I have some democrat friends who despise republicans- I believe, however, that the two persuasions are not so different that there should be that much tension between the two.
