Last week, 35 refugees were aided to escape woomera detention center in rural Australia. This was an unorganised, spontaneous action which happened at a protest at the center, after refugees started pleading to get help from the public for their escape.
9 have been captured so far, the other 26 are still on the run and police say they have stopped the search for them after numerous searches of towns around woomera, including the township of woomera were thouroughly searched and result were inconclusive.
This happened while a 7,000 strong demonstration in Sydney city was going on for the refugees.
Some people (the more conservative supporters) are boycotting this strategy at freeing the refugees, naming it "unlawful" and "undemocratic". I beleive that this is what the government needs from our side, a split, so if you are in australia and find people who support refugees, but dont support this action, please try to convince them otherwise, or else this movement may split and fail completely.
People are entitled to opinions, but this is a very fatal one for the movement if they decide to withdraw from the movement due to this latest action.
