Hi,

I'm new and I have a couple of questions:

- In a Communist society, do the workers get off time?

- Since private property is illegal and is a group thing then how does a household get clothes/food/toys for their baby?

- Will the household make enough to furnish their house? Does Communism kill individuality? What if I was a worker and I wanted to buy a playstation 2 for when iam at home and bored. Is that possible? Would I even be able to get things to entertain me?

- Communism eliminates competition. Is this a negative for the citizens and workers?
Competition creates an learning environment so that you'll learn wheather your the loser or the winner. If there is no competition and everyone is co-operative then doesn't that kind of dumb the citizens and workers down?

Please help me out with this. Thanks. I'll elaborate on it more once I get some replies.

In a Communist society, do the workers get off time?

As much as they want. In a communist society, all work is voluntary.

Since private property is illegal and is a group thing then how does a household get clothes/food/toys for their baby?

They go to a "big box" (formerly a Wal-Mart) and get whatever they need for their baby.

It's all free.

Will the household make enough to furnish their house?

There's no money in a communist society. You get what you need for free.

Does Communism kill individuality?

What makes you think that? Certain forms of individuality will be "killed" -- like the kind that says "the more stuff I accumulate, the better person I am".

In capitalist society, we're taught that "we are what we buy"...and that kind of "individuality" will disappear.

What if I was a worker and I wanted to buy a playstation 2 for when I am at home and bored. Is that possible? Would I even be able to get things to entertain me?

No buying and selling under capitalism. Assuming enough people liked playstation 2 to form a collective to make them, then you could get one for free. Same for any other entertainment device.

If there is no competition and everyone is co-operative then doesn't that kind of dumb the citizens and workers down?

Why should it? Is the only reason that you ever want to learn stuff so that you'll be "smarter than the next guy"?

Learning is its own reward...it's "worth doing" no matter what anyone else thinks.

In fact, that's how all tasks "get done" in a communist society...because people think they are "worth doing".

Hope that helps.
