I'm just curious as to peoples feelings of Leonard Peltier's innocence or guilt. Thanks to my b/f i've recently become reallly integrated with aboriginal culture/issues. As a result i've been doing a lot of reading about AIM etc and become extremely interested in the case of Leonard Peltier (also helps that i'm a law student and would really like to read the transcripts from his trial). So im just curious. do you think he's guilty? innocent? and why?
also. i recently had a 'discussion' with my roommate (who is often much more conservative than me) regarding the fact that leonard peltier, dino butler and bob robideau know who did kill the two fbi agents but refuse to name the man. my roommate thinks they are insane for not saying anything because its meant that leonard peltier has remained in prison for 25 some odd years. i personlly really respect all of them for that decision. what are your feelings on that?

The first I heard of Peltier was about two months ago, when my dad gave me a shirt of his with pictures of Bobby Sands and Leonard on it.
Peltier was arrested for his political activism. It's that simple, IMHO. Like Mumia Abu Jamal, he's been screwed by the U$ government.

He was arrested as a scapegoat. Theres no evidence to support that he executed those 2 agents at close range. There is however some evidence that It was not him. The executing of those 2 men is rather horrible, especially since they were wounded first. However it is understandable that someone would have been so enraged as to do something like that. peltier probably feels protective of the person who did kill them, (maybe the killer was a youth) and at the time there was no evidence to prove that any of them did it. He probably thought that if they couldnt find anything on any of them, if they all kept quiet they would all go free. Peltier has made a huge sacrafice by not naming the killer, if indeed he does know who it was and to stay in jail for 25 odd years is an incredible feat.
His latest request for parole is coming up soon, to show your support head over to www.raisethefist.com.

I think Pelteeeeer (actually, I pronounce it "Pelteeah" since I'm from Vermont) is innocent. The "proof" that was used to convict him isn't convincing to me. There was way too much going on at the time that was very, very shady. Whenever the FBI is involved, nothing is as it seems.
