Hey guys. You seemed like the perfect guys to back me up on this little story.

Last week, we had to write a report for my English Class on a person of the 20th Century that we considered a hero. I, of course, wrote about my favorite Marxist, Comandante Che Guevara.

I was really happy with the paper I wrote, which described the numerous good deads he did throughout his life and about his personal philosophies. But unfortunetly, my English teacher wasn't.

He failed me on the assignment simply because the person I considered as a hero of mine conflicted with his McCarthyist upbringings and philosophies. I tried to talk sense into the guy, but he wouldn't budge an inch.

Some times people make me sick. Any thoughts?

man your teacher has a very narrow perception of the world, i mean like cmon! i hear hitler started kindergarten and i read up on another guy who changed my perception of communism and anarchism! i have been flabbergasted by the theory of anarchy for quite some time,i dont mean to offend those who really dont know, but most people are running around jamming their idea of anarchy to anyone who will listen and they dont even know what they are talking about! sorry to rant. i get excited when i think about anarchy. i think your lucky to be allowed to choose ernesto guevarra as a subject for a report. i havent done one this year in english but if i do you can be guaranteed that ill spread the truth about che and i will inform the ignorant. che's idea of communism and my idea of anarchism are pretty much the same only in the theory of communism there is a leader. in anarchy you live for the crowd, not yourself. greed is the enemy. lead the people to truth and freedom. besides, when the revolution happens, he'll be one of the first to go.

Well, if I were in your "position" -- I would take it "further" -- demanding for your doltish "teacher" to relinquish his personalized stance and examine/mark your paper accordingly.

Or, go and see the "head" of the faculty (i.e. English Department) "state your case" and demand for an impartial teacher to grade your paper.

If not satisfied with that... "go higher" among the "ranks"!

I once wrote a rather lengthy paper, in high school terms (6500 words) on Che and the Cuban revolution myself.

To no surprise, nobody in my class, including my teacher had heard of him or recognized the infamous photograph championed by young zealots.

Maybe your paper was biased and you are jumping to conclusions.

peace....
when i was in school people would get in trouble for reading Malcolm X autobio.......thats just the north american educational system.....its designed to create either criminals or elitists........Che Guevara was a great great man and also he was kind of like Bob Marley or Malcolm X in that he was LOVED by God (the supreme being).........look at what happened to the people who killed him.......Che's curse is what its called......

RJ - I recomend, first, having an impartial third party look over yr paper. We all tend to exagerate the quality of our work in some cases. If they assure that yr work is at least up-to-par for high school, go to the Dean/Department Head, or at least another English teacher, and talk about it. Don't miss a good chance to nail that reactionary arse to the wall if he's actually shooting down papers according, totally, to his own unfair political bias.

Never miss a good chance to help clean up the school system a little - every asshole we get fired/reprimanded is a step in the right direction (Aim for school-occupation by the end of next semester! :P )

Just to let you know a teacher isnt allowed to do that to a paper. Its again the teacher bylaws or some other jibjab.

take it to the principal. Explain that your teacher is holding such an obvious bias that he failed you over your personal opinion. From what I understand, teachers are supposed to just teach, not impart their personal opinions on their class. Demand that another english teacher grades your work.

If this doens't work, go the the school board. Don't let your asshole of a teacher get away with this.

Noo... That would be the George W. Bush solution. I say take it to the higher ups or the dreaded "liberal media".
